Cork have done this before where they’ve not turned up or looked stone useless and come out and blitz it the next day. You could be right BOC has chopped and changed too much, I read somewhere he made at least six changes every game. I expect them to click come championship still.
Why would they change a winning formula?

I reckon only about seven or eight players who played today were in their traditional positions under Pat Ryan.
I knew that round robin match last year was a cod but I wouldnt be so sure on today.
Realistically Limerick could have won by 15 points if they didn’t self sabotage at the back and nailed two more goals of their own which they should have.
Today was a good day for Tipp and Galway in my opinion.

I reckoned we’d win by eight but we were value for a good bit more than that yet won by less. Cork are a bit of a bogey team for us so that’s not great either.
Sometimes in life you need to double down.
The easy thing to do sometimes is rip it all up and start again when the obvious answers are staring you in the face. I see club teams everywhere putting centre forwards back centre back and vice versa from year to year just because they didn’t win the County Final.
It usually never ends well.
Small thing but Ciaran Joyce taking 2 steps and then taking his touch annoys me to no end. Forces him to strike the ball and since his distribution is cat, its a defenders ball 9 times out of 10

Limerick hit 1-27 and AOC, Bull, David Reidy never got going. One a different day they could have hit 3-34

Joyce has a vicious side spin on his delivery of the ball, it can work well an odd time when striking a ball from 5 to 13 but in general it’s not suiting a forward.
It’s only now really you see the value in Horgan, he inadvertently made them play 3 inside which doesn’t suit Limerick. I don’t really see how jack Leahy is so far off that team? He’s a very similar player who’s looked good for UL wolves.
Eoin Downey continues to rely heavily on his surname, he’s arguably the best of a bad lot of options at 3. My mothers people from imokilly country don’t rate DOL at all so maybe BOC is the same at 3, his hurling looks awkward for this level.
They’ll have to go back to Fitzgibbon at 9 and Coleman at 7.
Limerick look almost untouchable on that performance again today. It would have been another clean sheet today barring Byrnes brain fart off his junior B standard left. Their blanket defence off 11 behind the ball is very difficult to get through especially in Spring conditions. Gillane was unreal again.
Their choke like tackling got penalised a few times but it’s very hard to break through. Galway prob have the best idea with their strategy of literally getting it anywhere out of the tackle area once they see the choke coming.
If Limerick have 4 defenders around you and the other 6 are going back then surely there is an attacker on the outside. It sounds simple but the reality is it’s limericks to lose.

Hayes got 1-3, although the goal was a gift
Cork didn’t look off a yard in the 1st 20 mins until they were gifted the goal. Take that out of it and Limk win by at least double digits. Tis only the league though so not much to take from the game for the round robin,lacked the usual championship feel overall. Happy to add another medal to our lads haul though.

it’s so annoying when the game is over as a contest and the ref decides to play additional time on top of what was shown on the board.
it frequently leads to pushing and shoving and players acting the hard man.

A few observations on my return from the TUSGG (after a few lovely cold pints):
I’d be happy with
where we are. It’s not at 2020/2021 domination levels but there’s an institutional memory being learned by a few newer players that will pay dividends.
For example, I cannot understand how people are overly critical of The Bull today. He has now learned how to do Flanagan’s job - ie creating, and not taking,
Gillane’s space. I don’t care if he hardly hits the ball when Gillane is running amok as he did today. In fact, Cork are now so paranoid about AG that I think that O’Brien could
actually be the difference maker come championship.
Secondly, stop Barrett and you stop Cork. He’s their most intelligent and effective hurler and there was a noticeable effort from Limerick to negate him today.
WOD got a bit more protection from his midfield, a better performing Byrnes and, noticeably, Kyle coming off his wing a bit more. He’ll need more help under faster ground conditions and it makes the contribution of DOD more vital. I fear, however, that DOD hasn’t four 70-plus minutes of Munster Championship in him anymore.
Cork are something of a mental wreck and will be beaten by Tipperary in a fortnight. Their pivotal game will be in the final round at home to Clare, who could be anything - either in contention to knock them out or completely flat.
Aidan O’Connor won’t do in the white heat of championship.
As I write, Donal Og is trying to big up Tipperary doing back to back. They won’t, but will qualify from Munster, and possibly at the expense of Cork. They won’t beat Limerick when it matters, though.
