A stroke of the chin added for good measure
Coughlan is exceptional cycling downhill with the likes of UL Wolves v St. Angela’s home ec college but he has some awful habits of standing with the ball on his left when he goes up the levels, his right hand side is also fairly average for this level and then there’s the obvious problems with him turning and going back towards his own goal.
It will likely be a half back line of
Byrnes, WOD, Hayes.
The big thing Hannon gave you that WOD doesn’t is his ability to spread the play off left and right. It’s particularly important when Byrnes is so one sided.
They could do with someone like Scully being an option at 5.
Byrnes wont start surely for championship.
The alternatives aren’t burning it up
If Coughlan is the answer then the party is over.
He’s just not a killer.
More injuries to the squad have forced this weekends selection.
Hannon played well in that Munster final appearance, not many wing backs are going to be stuck to Lehane running all over the place at the end of a game and it’s not how limerick have ever defended really.
On paper Fitzgerald is exactly the kind of player that would improve the balance of the Limerick backs as a pacy enough corner back but are you going to leave out two of Casey, Finn, Morrissey, Nash for him, probably not.
Our half back line will continue to be “vulnerable/done/there for the taking” according to the hurling cognoscenti as it’ll prioritise full back line protection against teams langering the ball up the field. But in reality it’ll be as good any other team is putting out.
Will it be carnage in the stands tomorrow with the unreserved seating?
I like Scully but Coughlan is waaaay ahead of him tbf.
I think Coughlan will go close to starting but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s CON in the end.
Byrnes won’t start. I’d imagine tomorrow night is a tester to see where he’s at.
Unless he’s found a yard of pace somewhere he will be under serious pressure and I would expect that will be the end of him as a starter.
Hell struggle badly against a diarmuid healy but not everyone has a player with that electric pace. In contrast he’d match up well against john donnelly or Peter duggan
They don’t appear to be looking at CON for half back and I think Byrnes still edges coughlan. Add in the frees and ball delivery. At this stage I can’t see him not starting.
He fuckin will
Full duck….
Limerick by 6 + points….
If my understanding of the layge is correct then two teams finishing level it is then based on h2h? Ergo, the result Saturday is irreverent to Limerick and instead they should be focusing on Galway if they wanna get to a league final @Percy ?
Be interesting to see what team Clare put out this weekend. A good few lads are back or close to returning but I’d hope that four or five of the less established lads who have played throughout are retained and given a chance to hold their place.
Three week break after this ahead of the league final and a warm weather training camp for the first time under Lohan ahead of the league final.
Centre back looks no closer to being figured out but aside from that the depth of the panel looks about as good as it has in a long time.
Thought Conlan was back fit?
Time has caught up to him - might do a job off the bench but isn’t a starting centre back any more.
Ben pulling zero punches with that 15.
