I think O’Neill will be our best possibility but he may not be interested. No way someone like Hughton would take the job - we have a dreadful group of players with little chance of qualifying for anything. It will probably be someone at the end of their career, our hope is that it will have been a decent career.

O’Neill will never work in club football again and would bite John Delaney’s hand off for the Ireland job at this stage.

He’ll be offered it and will take it, but I’d take any of the above before him.
