Next Celtic Manager

They’d only used one sub before Tierney went off. :person_shrugging:t3:

Yeah but that was the second stoppage. And then the Ralston one was the third. So that would have been the end of the changes if they hadn’t confirmed the Ralston head injury. And that allowed the fourth stoppage.

Bailey is class, they had to move his wages on due to PSRI or whatever it’s called. They didn’t want to lose him or Diaby.

I’ve made the point before that football is now a content creation business. That’s a sort of modern, empty, dystopian way of saying something much more wholesome - that football is about FEELING THINGS.

The reality of Celtic’s existence since Martin O’Neill’s golden era has been one of increasing irrelevance, of being a giant whale trapped in one of those hellish Sea World pools. There’s another whale trapped in the same pool, and the whales don’t like each other.

For a while that other whale disappeared, and the remaining whale that was Celtic didn’t know what to do with itself it was so bored. Then after four years Rangers The Whale eventually came back, it was actually a new whale, a different whale which looked alike, but this whale arrived in an enfeebled state, and Celtic The Whale was itself becoming more enfeebled.

People just lost interest in these performing whales, and the whole acquatic park was about to effectively shut down.

But now people are suddenly interested in Celtic The Whale again.

Why? Incompetence. Gross Fucking Incompetence. Let’s completely abandon that awkward and foolish whale metaphor and return to the core issue - football supporters craving to FEEL THINGS.

What makes football supporters FEEL THINGS is not a well run club boringly cruising to an expected league championship title. That makes supporters fall asleep.

They want DRAMA.

DRAMA in football can be provided by a team unexpectedly making a charge.

Liverpool in 2013/14 made Liverpool supporters feel ALIVE. Ireland in 2025 made people feel ALIVE. Aston Villa now are making people feel ALIVE.

But what also makes people feel alive, is when a club hits the self destruct button. Liverpool this season are BOX OFFICE because it’s a shambles.

Manchester United started this season looking like they were going to be shambolic box office when they went to Grimsby and suffered a world class humiliation, but they’ve since settled into a boring rhythm which makes people tune out. I believe they’re playing as I write this but nobody cares.

They care about Celtic.

On one level I think the Celtic board are geniuses because what has happened over the last two months has made Celtic relevant again in a way it hasn’t been for decades.

Celtic is now once again a topic of conversation for normal people in Ireland rather than just oddballs with a love for shit football and an edgy line in pretend Provoness.

Celtic supporters are FEELING THINGS and the rest of the football world is looking on with interest.

It’s the range of emotions the Celtic board have provoked with their incompetence that is impressive, their summary dismissal of the manager, their immediate vicious insulting of that now former manager, their genius return to first principles by appointing St. Martin O’Neill, their getting Dermot Desmond’s son in to gratuitously and arrogantly insult the supporters to their faces to the point where an EGM was about to turn into a riot, their booting the Green Brigade out of Celtic Park, and then their crazy appointment of a crazy manager. The impending loss of the league title to fucking Heart Of Midlothian.

This really is terrrific content creation, all of it. Normally it’s just one family of emotions that a group of supporters experiences in a “surge”. But since October Celtic supporters have experienced the full range of every emotion and Celtic Football Club has become a remorseless content creation machine that makes people FEEL THINGS.

Anger. Rage. Recrimination. Nostalgia. Euphoria. Fervent and sincere belief that they have entered a time machine and that it is August 2001. Fear. Hope. And back to rage.

Right now there are people constantly refreshing Ceefax to see if Wilfried Nancy has been sacked and they’re scouring video of post match interactions between Nancy and the players from yesterday and they’re scouring post match interviews to try and read between the lines that the players hate him and some of them are inventing rumours to try and hasten Nancy’s sacking and all of them are wistfully listening to Martin O’Neill on Talksport this morning desperately trying to convince themselves that he’s dropping hints that he wants back in. Celtic supporters are looking on at Martin O’Neill on Talksport like a 12 year old boy waits at his bedroom window to get a peek at that girl he fancies down the road as she goes across the road to her friend’s house.

There is not another football project anywhere on earth that has the RELEVANCE of the legendary Glasgow Celtic Football right now.

Celtic is RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW and nothing else matters.

Hi Richard

The most recent example of utter madness? Celtic. What on earth were they thinking when they stood Martin O’Neill down and replaced him with a cross between Inspector Clouseau and Russell Martin? And did so three games before a cup final?

After reflection we should bin Nancy now. He’s a spoofer and it ain’t going to work.

Nancy has taken to Twitter & it’s a bit embarrassing if harmless enough. Same energy/vibe as something a lass would have posted on Facebook in 2012 after not being invited to a night out by the other girlies. Some of the replies are quite amusing.

If there’s one occupation that NEEDS a Twitter account and needs to respond to people messaging them, it’s a football manager, and especially a football manager managing Celtic.

The one thing in Coach Nancy’s control right now is to clamp that cunt @CastlemilkBhoy67.

It’s a really good sign for Coach Nancy’s future prospects that he’s doing this.

This is peak hun banter years stuff. An absolute rocket. What sort of checks were done on this lunatic?

Concerning.

Video of Nancy talking about how when you’re a coach you have to CUT all social media presence.

I’m 75% convinced this is fake. Not 100%.

The remorseless content creation machine that is Celtic Football Club of Glasgow keeps on giving.

The most RELEVANT football club on the planet right now.

Some bhoy did a deep dive of Nancy’s account before the tweets were protected. Not just what he’s posted himself but tweets he’s liked & replied to. He’s one of those new fangled coaches obsessive about players moving in sync. What do they call it “relational” positioning or something? Good in practice but if players don’t buy in & think it’s ridiculous that your centre back is being told to do underlapping runs to the byline & they’re not moving in tandem then it breaks down quickly. He’s also a fan of that Raymond Verheijen fella & his football periodisation stuff. You might recall Verheijen for consistently calling out Klopp as a bluffer on Twitter for many years before quietly fading into the background as Klopp racked up trophies. Nancy had liked articles written by Verheijen where he was calling out Moysey as a clueless dinosaur too. I guess it makes sense that he only spent 10/15 minutes talking to O’Neill on the day he took up the job after the board asked O’Neill to hang around on that Thursday to do a handover.

I had a skim read through Brother Wilfried’s Twitter last night.

The tracksuit and shoes photo is from 2014.

The retweet of the Le Monde article about 50,000 people being at Sevco’s first home game in 2012 is real.

There was another screenshot doing the rounds of a supposed tweet from the wee hours of Monday March 26th, 2012 which was Nancy supposedly exclaiming “wow, what a victory for Rangers” or words to that effect. On the Sunday Rangers had beaten Celtic 3-2 at Ibrox Park (the two Celtic goals came very late) in a match where a Celtic victory would have clinched the title at Ibrox for the first time ever. If I remember rightly it was an abject Celtic performance.

But I think this screenshot was a fake and I could find no evidence of such a tweet.

I noted Verheijen’s name coming up a few times alright in the 2013-2015-ish time window.

Another thing that has got a bit of traction and which appears to be true - but it’s sort of difficult to follow because there’s an exchange of tweets in French between Wilf and some person called Olivier Brett - is that around the time of Euro 2012, Wilf appeared to not understand that the Republic of Ireland was not part of the United Kingdom. He seemed to be confused by there being a Republic of Ireland and a Northern Ireland. There isn’t really any smoking gun tweet in this exchange as such but it was a general picture from this exchange that I formed. This Olivier chap, who Wilf perhaps knows, seemed to be respectfully putting Wilf right about geopolitical facts that Wilf wasn’t aware of.

Some other tidbits I noted from Wilf’s Twitter in 2012 were:

He watched a US Presidential debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney in October 2012. He made a comment that Romney reminded him of an old school football “stopper” while Obama was more like a number 10.

And my favourite piece of Wilf Twitter activity: He retweeted news of the death of actor Larry Hagman in November 2012.

Then he hardly tweeted at all between about 2015 and 2018.

Peak Wilfried Nancy Twitter seems to be between about 2012 and 2014.

Yeah I saw he retweeted the clarification in French from his French pal about there being two countries in Ireland & how one of them was part of the UK. Wilf had a comment accompanying the retweet saying how interesting & he was retweeting this info in case other people similarly had no idea. I think that 2012 huns game thing is a fake alright. He’d said in his media pieces last week that he’s not active on social media as the noise is a distraction. He was obviously drawn back in by the need to get that Venn diagram out there last night.

All of that stuff is predicated on technical and physical competency. If he keeps going with it, he deserves everything he gets.

I presume someone has already called them the Nancy Bhoys?
