David Burke made himself available and started midfield with molloy dropped and Davy âa big part of my depression was because they wouldnât play me midfieldâ glennon moving to the wing. Flynn and wheeeelo both getting a brace of goals in a sad indictment of offaly hurling. We managed to score 4-9 in the first half into a stiff breeze. Hopefully daithi will hit a racketball court with his caman to get the football out of his system and make himself available for the thankless task of quitening Macdonald. Id urge all my WX epals to make the big trip to the capital of culture (galway gaa really, really needs the gate receipts) i have it on good authority that the @Nembo_Kid has a couch, spare room and ulster fry for a few interested parties.
I donât think Wexford or Limerick are capable of beating Offaly by anywhere near that. You have scoring difference sewn* (spelling?) up already in the event of a 3-way tie so you only need to beat us and can afford to lose in Limerick later on. Galway are essentially promoted after the first game. Congrats, mate.
Donât be playing the poor mouth pal we invented it in the wesht. The main advantage we have is a windy Atlantic day is usually worth a few points to us in February home league games but im sure the little wizard will have his charges prepared for it. How the fuck is this not being shown on dtelly?
Heâs not physical enough for full forward and unable to win dirty ball. He is also not selfish enough for the full forward line. And yes you are correct, he needs to be facing goal. Unless you start with a two man full for ward line with a decent target man and have Lynch driving forward for the knock downo, itâs hard to see how he will be most effective. Heâs too loose for half back and Hickey is enough of a loose hurler at half back without having two of them in it
They wonât. Offaly will rally after this and while Wexford and zlimerick may beat them, Offaly will rally. Ryan was on the radio after todays game basically begging for some bit of support
I fail to see where the positivity is for Limerick followers today. Thereâs no doubt that if TJ was still in charge that the punters would be baying for blood after todayâs shambles. Only for Kirwan keeping them in it today it wouldâve been considerably worse for them.
Not sure where they go from here. Lee Chin cleaned out Hickey and Hannon, who was essentially loose all game, was the only bright slot.
A bad effort at a WUM.
I stand over every single word of it. I agree they shouldâve had a penalty but other than that they can fuck off with their ref rode us bollox.
Unlimited heartbreak. And with good reason.
Lee Chin is a fucking magnificent hurler.
Itâs crazy to think that when Clare decided to dispense with multiple senior All Ireland winner Davy Fitzgerald (to put two developmental / underage coaches in charge) Limerick didnât make a determined play for him and instead appointed an underage manager to the role themselves too. Davyâs work on the college scene would make him very familiar with the Limerick players and heâs literally next door to them.
As it is, Kielyâs shipped a 7-goal beating to Cork, thrown away a 7-point second half lead in Wexford Park after mocking the Wexford manager in an RTĂ interview in the build up, publicly slagged off their own supporters at the league launch, fell out with their best young player whoâs now banished from the squad, appointed a captain who didnât deem it necessary to train with the squad all winter and weâre barely into February. I wonder if theyâll look to replace him at the end of the league and before the championship? The job looks way too big for him. Some underage coaches just arenât cut out for the adult game. This is senior hurling.
Read my long post on the match and exactly what I said about Kirwan. Limerick can have no complaints today. Conceding 1-7 without reply is never going to win you a match. The Wexford substitutions were well timed and worked a treat. Iâm not too sure how many first teamers need to come back to the Wexford fold but Limerick were missing at least four today.
Fuck.
Have we appointed the hurling equivalent of Donald Trump?
Good to see a former footballer of the year and three time all ireland winner not taking twitter too seriously. .when a few lesser lights seem to be willing to do anything for attention in a sad attempt to keep themselves relevantâŚ
A narrow enough sub-set to claim pre-eminence in.
Whatâs a regista? or was that a typo? Excellent write up otherwise
Honestly I thought Wexfordâs errors in trying to implement Davyâs game plan kept Limerick alive and gave them the half time advantage.
While I wouldnât blame the chap for making a balls of the forty yard free straight in front of the goal (shit happens), it neatly surmises the Limerick mindset. The pressure came on and a collapse ensued.
Kiely looks like a Dave Keane-esque appointment. U-21 and senior are different beasts entirely and many counties have made the fatal mistake of assuming seamless transition.
True for you but Galway will sort ye out easily
Limerick youâre a loser.
Your Shannon waters tears of pain that flow.
Thatâs stunning.
