NHL Division 1B - The Wexford Procession

:flushed:

“Let’s chill the beans a small bit” - Davy Fitzgerald.

Nice to see Davy enjoying himself again, even when he got a win last year he was biting back against his critics the whole time.

The camera work in Salthill there was abysmal. Missed the first Galway goal as the camera focused on the Wexford keeper for a few seconds and the camera misjudged the flight of the ball.

And to compound it the predictable RTE incompetence as they failed to show the incidents that led to both penalties. Or even the fouls that led to the two winning points at the death.

Actually I think Gerry works with Galway footballers so false alarm. He worked with Tipperary hurlers last year - not sure if he’s still with them.

He’s a winner so isn’t he?

He was brilliant for the Irish Olympic boxers too…when we were winning.

Davy Fitzgerald is already proving to be an inspired appointment for Wexford.

Hurling needs Davy Fitzgerald and it needs Wexford because when Wexford are going well they bring an excitement that no other hurling county can match.

Wexford are going to batter Kilkenny in the Leinster semi-final this summer.

“Offaly beat Wexford last year. Laois should have beaten them and Wexford only won by a point. And I think Kerry are the most improved team in 1B so we’re taking nothing for granted.” - Davy Fitzgerald.

Spotted that legendary Offaly supporter behind the goal on the footage from Salthill today. Proudly wearing his Offaly jersey too.

Nice to be winning albeit against the lower tier teams but remember what happened the rossies last year, great league and then out with a whimper in the championship.

Let’s up we don’t make those mistakes.

In the last 3 years Clare were done by Championship time after looking great in the league. Physically, Wexford are flying it and Davy looks to have penciled in promotion as his year 1 target and the team looked to have peaked for it. Very hard to sustain that over a 6 month period.

You need to factor in that Wexford will be in the much calmer waters of the Leinster Championship come June and will be able to get away with a flat performance or two compared to his Clare team who were in the bear pit of the Munster Championship.
