Niche thread, but does anyone on here know anything about proper hifi?

Are you going to connect them up to anything or are you just going to look at them?

I’ll keep you posted. Drinking in France at the minute. Drinking plenty.

Jaysus you have the life of Reilly.

You’re not stuck in fucking Manchester albeit with a wife way out of my league.
Who put stockings and suspenders on the night before my departure.

Next time your over, pints.

Indeed. I’ll not make allowances for an aging wavydavygravy who should know better next time.

No Flatty, I am not stuck in Manchester with a wife way out of your league.

What kind of roaster puts a “proper hifi system” in their kitchen? A kitchen is for cooking, eating and talking. Even a half way decent hifi is for listening to music, with as few audio distractions as possible. Sounds like you are more interesting in keeping the wife happy than spending your hard earned money wisely, a dangerous compromise. I haven’t heard them but from what I have read the Evos are aesthetically pleasing but sonically very average. For the same money you could have had something truly high end, like Audio Physic, Sonus Faber, or even Martin Logan electrostatics… or do what I did years back, installed a pair of Magneplanars in the living room. That’s the other end of the marital bliss spectrum, they lasted about 3 months before getting fucked into the garage. It still gets the occasional mention, the time I thought it was a good idea to put two doors in the living room.

In fairness she put on the stockings and suspenders so of course he’s going to buy a set of nice speakers for the kitchen.

I know, I know. It’s the only room I spend any time in though. Marriage is a series of compromises.
On my part.

Didn’t take much Fagan did it now you mention it. Grits her teeth for five minutes and I’m condemned to a lowfi life

Well @flattythehurdler did you connect those speakers up to anything yet.

My new turntable is beauty.

Excellent. Speakers arriving tomorrow. I’ll throw up a photo when they’re up and running. Glad your new turntable is good. You should check out hifi wigwam for a laugh some evening, the forum bit anyway.

Are they coming in the back of the car? “The Voyage” will sound deadly with them.

They are indeed. Today could be a triumph or a disaster.
I will endeavour to meet these imposters just the same.
Then I’ll slap the shite out of my wife.
Then I’ll be a man my son.

Here’s the DAC

That’s a nice bit of gear. Tube output stage which is lovely, gets you close to that analog sound all audiophiles crave. However, is it limited to 16/44.1? Is so and your source material is being streamed, you might be sorry soon as most streaming services now have at least a high res option. Apple are rumored to come out with high res early in 2016 using the Lightning connector and that will be a game changer.

Flatty will just upgrade to a more expensive piece of equipment if that happens. It will be no big deal.

It’s a bit sad to be upgrading just after buying but I suppose if you have money to burn
