Niche thread, but does anyone on here know anything about proper hifi?

Enjoy it Flatty.

Thanks fagan. You are a kind man. I’ll let you know how it sounds tomorrow all going well.

Maybe have a look at the manual? Going back to my original post spotify premium is streamed at 320kbps which is decent but compressed and the system you are putting together deserves better, at least CD quality and preferably high res. When you are all up and running connect a CD or DVD player to your DAC and compare it to Spotify. If you can’t hear any difference then fair enough but on a decent system CD quality is considerably better than compressed audio.
Happy listening.

Thanks Labane, and happy Christmas. Tidal I think are launching a high data stream and Spotify will probably follow in due course. I’ll do that though.
Have a great holiday.

For the next generation @flattythehurdler @Fagan_ODowd

Spanish company Babypod has invented a speaker that is designed to be inserted into the vagina, stimulating foetal development.

Speechless.

Looked at he reissued Technics 1200 in Cloney Audio there at the weekend. Looks like a smashing piece of kit but it clocks in at just under 4K, so I’ll be sticking with my trusty Concept. Apparently they are bringing out a cheaper version of the 1200 soon.

No point starting a new thread, but looking to get something handy for the house. Well, it’s an apartment really. Around the €200 mark, seems to be a lot of options.
Should I go for a micro hifi yolk, or get a separate CD player (like a Denon) and then get the speakers second hand or something off Adverts…
Hope to get a run of the mill record player as well for my small collection of records…
I’m humming and hawing about buying online as you can’t see how big or small the units are…

The trusty Technics cassette deck gave up a couple of weeks ago. I procured a new second hand cassette deck out of England on Amazon. Reconditioned, new pinchers and rollers in the original box and with the original manual and leads. Made in 1994 and some English oddball had kept the original box and manual for nigh on thirty years. Not that I’m not grateful.

Listening to Best of UB40 Vol 1 here. Cc @ciarancareyshurlingarmy

Would you not listen to a proper album and give up on those greatest hits efforts?

Probably too low brow for this thread

Anyone recommendations on a good record player to buy around 200/300 euro mark.

Rega planar 1 or an audio technica

Rigged up Wharfedale Evo 4.2 speakers to the system today. The KEF metas died due to an overdriving incident. It would have cost nearly as much to repair the KEFs as to replace them with the Wharfedales. I had lost confidence in the KEFs as a result of the incident. The Wharfedales are a big heavy bit of kit but so far so good.

An acquaintance has a pair of sonus cremona speakers. They’re unrale, his entire system cost about 20k before he started messing with it
