These trophy kills in the prison system seems to be getting popular. Carl Williams, Whitey Bulger, the Lost Prophets singer and now Huntley. I suppose infamy is harder to attain, if desired when faced with the constrictions of a long prison sentence.

Blood was found on the body of Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra following her death at a luxury yacht club in New York state, a lawyer for her family has claimed.
Attorney Michael Bowe told the Irish Independent that an independent post-mortem examination commissioned by Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra’s family was at odds with one carried out by the state of New York.
Now the family of the young Irishwoman have filed a $50m (€43m) civil lawsuit against the owner of the boat on which she died.
Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra (33) was found unresponsive at a Montauk yacht club in East Hampton on Long Island, New York, on August 5 last year.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical responders and East Hampton police.
The entrepreneur, originally from Carlow, had met Christopher Durnan on board his yacht, Ripple, to discuss business.
Mr Durnan, a 60-year-old millionaire, had already invested $250,000 (€216,000) in East x East, a sunglasses and swimwear brand owned by Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra and her business partner, Dylan Grace.
The meeting ended in tragedy and it was heard that Mr Durnan dashed down the dock at about midnight, naked and screaming for help.
Authorities said a post-mortem carried out by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office was inconclusive, but that there was “no evidence of violence” in her death.
On Tuesday, the administrators of Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra’s estate initiated legal proceedings against Mr Durnan at the Supreme Court of the State of New York, seeking $50m in damages following her death.
The summons with notice, filed electronically in New York County on August 4, seeks damages for “wrongful death” and for the “personal injuries and conscious pain and suffering” Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra sustained before her death.
The filing comes exactly one year after the alleged fatal incident occurred at a prominent Long Island marina.
According to court documents, the actions arise from events that took place on August 4 and 5, 2025, aboard a vessel docked at the yacht club, located at 32 Star Island Road in Montauk, New York.
The plaintiffs allege that Mr Durnan “intentionally and wrongfully” assaulted Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra.

They further allege that his “gross negligence” and “reckless and wanton conduct” contributed to her injury and death.
Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra’s mother, Elma, and Marcello de Peralta, of New York, are bringing the suit forward in their capacity as temporary administrators of her estate. The administrators were formally appointed by the New York County Surrogate’s Court on July 30 this year.
The plaintiffs in the civil lawsuit are represented by the high-profile New York law firm Brithem LLP, with attorneys Michael Bowe, Lauren Tabaksblat, and Jaime Freilich-Fried listed on the filing.
Mr Bowe told the Irish Independent: “The family remains in the same painful place it was a year ago, and this is their mechanism to pursue accountability and justice for Martha.
“Their expert medical examiner, who conducted an independent autopsy, does not agree Martha was killed by intoxicants, given her youth and health.”
He said that blood was found “in her mouth, on her chest and head and possibly behind her head”.
“Law enforcement informed the family they believed the scene had been cleaned before responders arrived,” he added.
“Durnan was found naked on the dock and claimed he stripped because Martha vomited on him, but there is no evidence of that at the scene or in the autopsy and he also declined to talk to the police after that night and has claimed publicly to have been in contact with the family when he has not. In fact, he failed to respond to repeated calls and text messages from them. ”
He added: “We will secure substantial additional evidence through discovery in this case before presenting it all in court.”
Last year, in an interview with New York Magazine, Robert Holdman, an attorney representing Mr Durnan, offered his client’s account of what happened.

Mr Holdman claimed Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra went limp between 10.30pm and 11pm and that Mr Durnan feared she was having a heart attack.
Mr Holdman said his client attempted CPR.
“She was gone almost immediately,” Mr Holdman told New York Magazine. “She was non-responsive.”
The lawyer also claimed Mr Durnan stripped off his clothes before running for help because they had been “soaked” with Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra’s vomit.
Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra’s estate is seeking a default judgment of $50m, plus interest, punitive damages and attorney’s fees, should Mr Durnan fail to respond to the summons.

Under New York State court rules, Mr Durnan, a resident of Garden City, New York, has been given a strict timeline to respond. He must serve a notice of appearance within 20 days if the summons is personally delivered to him within the state, or within 30 days if service is completed by other means.
Mr Bowe said the next legal step for the family was to “serve the complaint and then pursue document discovery and deposition testimony”.
Mr Durnan’s lawyer was contacted for comment.

This whole episode almost reminds me of the movie indecent proposal. The fiance and Marta Nolan in the Woody Harrelson Demi Moore roles. Young naive couple trying to make their way in the world. Trying to make a quick buck preyed upon by someone who held the balance of power in Durnan who in this movie analogy would be Robert Redford. Almost none of this story makes sense. Why would the fiance agree to let her on a yacht with someone twice her age into the small hours. Durnans whole story is a complete fabrication. You couldnt even say the truth lies somewhere in the middle because there is no discernible pattern. Just a bunch of lies and inconsistencies. Marta herself was a bit of an enigma. She was engaged to a new yorker called Di Rubio having just finalised a divorce a year earlier to some other guy. She had a close working relationship with another fella called Dylan Grace who for all intents and purposes looked like more than a mere business partner to her given the way he spoke about her in the aftermath. Hard to know what level of contact she had with her family. Sad case all round.

The biggest think I dont get in this is how some people think that because she may have been questionable in her choices or decisions, that her death was somewhat inevitable or her fault.
