Nothing Great about Britain

The Tory top brass at the BBC wouldn’t have dared do this if John Motson were still alive.

I laughed, so did you.

Craig Doyle. This is your time.

Be no surprise given they’re both former spurs players

Fair play to Shearer. The Tories/BBC have managed to turn a molehill into a mountain the stupid cunts.

No. There is a major correlation between puerile childishness and right w(h)ingery.

I’m going to predict now that they’ll fudge it and there won’t be any MOTD tomorrow night. Either that, or it will just broadcast the games without a presenter

Matthew Syed is on Channel 4 News now telling us that it is correct that Lineker has been suspended for not being impartial.

Syed is himself a BBC presenter.

Yet here he is expressing a partial opinion on the BBC’s suspension of its highest profile presenter.

And at the start of the segment he also said that Richard Sharp’s appointment as BBC Chairman is a disgrace!

Opinions from a BBC presenter!

Does he not see the irony?

If Syed is serious in his opinions, should he now himself not resign?

Yes, But the funny thing here is that GL is immensely popular in personal terms, across various divides. I know a couple of people who have met him over the years and he is meant to be a highly decent skin in person, unlike many individuals who possess his level of celebrity.

Yes, he likes adultery and cocaine. But so what. So does Michael Gove.

The Tories hate and fear Lineker because of the respect he holds across British society.

He was the top scorer at the World Cup and in the next World Cup he nearly carried England to glory. He is the definitive England centre forward. He was known for being as fair a player to ever play the game as ever existed. Opponents respected him.

He is the definition of middle England. A working class white lad from Leicester, whose family ran a fruit and vegetable stall at the market, Lineker himself helped out there. He is unfailingly polite.

He is grounded, but travelled, he played in Barcelona and in Japan. He has seen the world, looks at the world and has a good understanding of the world. That’s why he has the views he has.

He’s a great presenter, the voice of England in the best possible sense, a voice who can bring a nation with him, the way great sports presenters could do, like Bill O’Herlihy or Michael Lyster or Des Lynam could do it.

He isn’t a stooge, he is immensely respected, he has a brain and uses it. That’s why the Tories hate him.

Jermaine Jenas is 100% the person to watch here. He presented the World Cup draw in Qatar. That tells you a lot about him.

He will be the chief scab.
