He never hurled much, did he?
Why?

Vaguely remember some story from years ago.

He was decent as was his uncle

I rated Jbm a better footballer than hurler

And he was a Vg soccer player aswell

The Ban was in operation

Dunno
Think it was something to do with his greyhound racing/ training
And the feckin ga frowned upon one their own having the affront to play the foreign game

He learned his lesson

The entire Cork football squad was suspended for wearing Adidas gear in a Munster final circa 1976/77. It was a beautiful kit truth be told.

So is this the reason that I’m thinking his son Brian never bothered much with GAA?

That was my original question.

I’d say he was so good at soccer he didn’t have time for GAA

jBM doesn’t strike me as a fella who would have embedded a grudge like that down into his kids

There was no suspension after the adidas affair, JBM played out the hurling season

I wonder what the 72 suspension was in relation to, he was famously a very clean player

He had been sent off in a club game and got a lengthy suspension don’t know what he actually did

Banned from playing Football for Cork after they were out of the championship was a decent compromise :grinning:
