I dont think he showed hes intl level yet. Def will develop into it but hes not readt to start 6 nations for example
He missed easy place kicks, he fell off 2 tackles in the first 10 mins, se looked toothless in attack. All can be overcome and he genuinely will do
But he was almost motionless recieving the ball an awful lot. And that made our attack tootlhess.for a.lot of the match and why it was stark difference when ceowley came on.
Prendegast gets bigger, stronger, more confident and thatll change. His best attribute is pickin the right pass right at the line. But that should come at provincal level first and be earned.
This kid is super impressive in every aspect of his game he goes about. Front row no place for a young man not able for it and he is well able for it. Hell hit 50 caps in no time
Wprth noting as well, we have to change our defensive structure to.accomodate Prendegast at the moment. Aust were finsing plenty of metres because of indecision on our flanks as we were now defending differently with our 10 one in from the wing. Thats not on prendegast but im.not certain the net gain from it.
The kid is game and will develop to a fine talent. But he should be let to do that. I dont get the rush
Guys, discerning rubby followers can see Prendergast is a potentially elite operator & has a higher ceiling than Crowley who’s a good player in his own right. We’ll be much better placed to break through that World Cup QF barrier by building the team/squad over these years during the cycle. Use games like yesterday’s to develop, let Prendergast play through growing pains, he’ll come out the other side stronger for the experiences & Ireland might just have a 9/10 fly half for the next World Cup instead of a 7.5/10 (Crowley). We used to give out when we didn’t experiment in the Autumn/Winter series & now we give out when we do.
