It’s probably there for a lad like Gabriel to come and overtake the two of them but Jack definitely has it physically. He ran away from oncoming tacklers on his own line and chased an outside back to prevent a certain try. He does stupid things himself though such as the yellow last night and his place kicking is hit and miss.
He is a super rugby player and should be in the 15 somewhere for me, 10, 12 or 15. Sam looks like a guy playing in the wrong era. He might be the most skilful player to ever play for Ireland but that’s not the issue.
Why? Who for example? Are four teams not enough? There’s a backlog of Leinster players that could be playing at Connacht or ulster. Surely it would be of more benefit if they moved there rather than abroad.
It’s not stupid. South Africa over the course of the year kick more than anyone and with the new rules if the kick is right the kicking team have a right chance of getting it back.
Crowley is by a distance the best choice at outhalf at the moment. He looked to have gone up a level at Munster this year and he needs to perform like that for Ireland now too. You could see him playing 12 in future alright but hopefully he doesn’t get moved around all over cause it’ll probably hold him back.
I’d like to see Edogbo, Gleeson and maybe even Dan Kelly involved from Munster in the 6 nations. It was a hard game to come into, but I thought Farrell found it hard going. I’d see more upside in a Dan Kelly who was in with England for a time. I’d be looking at the other Edogbo as well if he can get himself right at all.
The big Leinster second row McCarthy was an awful loss. James Ryan has consistently struggled in these games against the La Rochelle type teams and was trying to make a point there at his teammates expense. It was unprofessional and ruined the game. He is 3 or 4 years removed for his best now, maybe more.
He shouldn’t have fucked around Jean Kleyn, for all O’Connell was very good against Argentina for Munster.
Clearly. They must be thinking they expose him now and he’ll develop faster and he’ll be ready to go by the world cup. It’s actually a good thing they tried it. But it’s not working and it appears to be backfiring on the team and the player and they need to acknowledge that now.
Absolutely, I thought he was the nuts myself when he debuted against the Aussies this time last year but it hasn’t borne out. The downside is outweighing what he brings. Very hard for the lads outside him defensively and he doesn’t seem to play to the team’s pattern which is good and bad I guess.
Ryan is just not an international class player for me. He’s not brilliant in a lineout, he’s not a big enforcer type like McCarthy, he’s not a big carrier, he’s not a turnover threat like beirne. He’s a bit of an all rounder but not world class at anything.
Has Sean edogbo even appeared for Munster yet this year? Getting ahead a bit to be talking about him for Ireland.
