the journo is giving out about Mcshane being a easy target hate figure yet brings Roy keane into discussion when there is absolutely no needā¦everyone said the same thing at the timeā¦even Beglin said it in the commentary when it happenedā¦and its true ā¦Mcshane hadnāt a clue where henry wasā¦ you go to any schoolboy match and when ball comes in high in the air youāll here a defender shout āNo Bounceāā¦its one of the first things you are taught as a defenderā¦attack the ball before it hits the groundā¦ You shouldnāt be making that mistake at the highest levelā¦

Thatās far too simplistic. There are loads of times when itās perfectly acceptable to let the ball bounce. It would never touch the ground otherwise.
-
Henry handled the ball about 3 yards from the end line and 3 yards from the back post. Thatās Givenās ball.
-
McShane should still have done better.

seriously??WTF ?..I was talking about in a packed penalty box when you are defending a freekickā¦ like Macshane was in that gameā¦i am fully aware the ball touches the ground in matches ā¦in fact as soon as you kick off a match it happens but thanks anyway for highlighting itā¦
If Macshane had attacked the ball and not allowed the bounce there would have been no goalā¦he did neitherā¦my point was that it is taught from a very young age so you can imagine peopleās surprise at such basic mistake being made at such a high levelā¦ especially when its more a matter of application and concentration than any real talent or skillā¦

Do you agree that Given made an even more obvious error of judgement in allowing the ball to drop into his 6 yard box without walking a couple of steps forward to collect it calmly?
McShane misjudged the flight of the ball and that was an error, as Iāve already said. Given didnāt do his job at all. That was a bigger error in my book. But that was never Givenās strength. But he was allowed to have flaws. McShane has his flaws too but his get highlighted more.

I donāt knowā¦while Given always has been slow to come off his line in this instance I think he was expecting Dunne or French forward to get a touch as thatās where it was dropping so hung back in anticipation for that ā¦I donāt think Macshane misjudged the flight of the ball, he just never went to attack itā¦i think of all the Irish players in the box he was in the best position of all to drive into itā¦
Its fuckin McShane cumspot.
sorry mcā¦
