The accidents is a reference to the player fund. It’s used to help out intercounty players who sometimes get into bother due to injury or illness etc. I believe a former intercounty hurler tried to access it once and the Leinster council were informed to give him nothing.
From the 2026 Leinster GAA Dioralyte Walsh Cup Round 1
Laois 0-17
Wexford 1-20
Dublin 0-23 Carlow 0-17. Dublin tried a good few lads. Conor Groarke impressed at corner back. Fast and well able to hurl but might be a little small. Davy Keogh did ok at midfield but has been tried before. Diarmuid o Dulainn was outstanding at corner forward and looks like he could drive on this year. David Purcell looked similarly sharp at full forward and Dara Purcell was busy at full forward.
Carlow were decent. Marty Kavanagh was v good as usual.
The GAA has lost the head collectively over the past few years. Terrible start to the season for Kilkenny.
Heads prevailed in all three coin tosses.
Kilkenny foolishly went for tails to align with their feline nickname.
Fine big car park in Lomans
Cats have heads too
And some cats don’t have tails

“But the referee told us the (grass) pitch was not going to be made available to us for whatever reason. We then had to make the decision (in consultation) with our medical team and the backroom team not to play. I am really disappointed for anyone who has travelled. I am more disappointed for the players. They were really looking forward to the game today. But we had to make that decision. It would not be worth risking an injury. There is a risk there. I am not taking that chance. The safety of our players is paramount. That ultimately is why the decision has been made. It is massively disappointing.”
The element of frustration was evident in Lyng’s voice. He left home this morning at 9am. He was prepared to play the game had it been on a grass surface. The pitches, however, are not owned by Westmeath county board but by the respective clubs, The Downs and St Loman’s.
Lyng said: “A few players were going to get their debuts today. They will get the opportunity again. There will be other days.
He’s dead right.
He fucking is. The cheeky fuckers trying to throw them on a dud of a 3G and the pitch apparently perfectly good to play on. Westmeath did similar fuckacting with Mountrath CS recently in a Leinster Junior Hurling, ending up on that carpet as well.
