I doubt there’s a band out there that have as many smashing tunes as Oasis; what I’m wondering though is what is your top 5? Mine are not set in stone and usually vary depending on my mood but there are songs that I would probably most out of their whole back catalogue which is probably as strong a premise as I could find.
No. 5 - (It’s Good) To Be Free

I like this song. I find it quite good to relax too and love the outro to the song. I also like the words to this song, simple yet deep at the same time.
No. 4 - Columbia

This is an incredible track. It’s one of those rare songs that just keeps building momentum as it continues. I can’t listen to this song and not find my foot tapping and head nodding along to the beat. My only gripe with Columbia is that they didn’t knock another two minutes out of it.
No. 3 - Supersonic

This was their first single. Everything about this song is perfect, the intro to the song just grabs you, the drums, the guitars, the vocals - “I need to be myself, I can be no-one else”. The structure and melody of the song are perfect and I find the lyrics quite amusing. Its just a really, really catchy tune.
No. 2 - Slide Away

This song is all about Liam, what a fucking voice and there will never be another like him him. After listening to this song the question that reverberates around my mind is “Is this the greatest love song of all time?”. My answer is always “yes”.
No. 1 - Listen Up

This is my favourite Oasis track of all time. I just can’t give better justification for it than anytime I hear it being played I feel happy and relaxed for its duration. It’s just a great, great song and the guitar solo in the final third of the song is simply magnificent. I’m not a fan of Noel’s acoustic version however.
I’ve always stuck up for Oasis latter day material and I stand by it as there are some really good tracks in there but it does pale in significance to some of the stuff they put out on Definitely Maybe and The Masterplan.
