They needed to catch Davy 5 mins before, heād had a chance to calm down by the time they got to him.
You could see him seething away under the surface
Ya thought he was going to cut loose once or twice.
Clare threw it away. Had plenty chances, lack of experience got to them. Conlon was outstanding, McGrath good too. Waterford still not great, could get badly beaten later in the year.
Donāt really agree with this. Thought Conlon was outstanding in the first half, faded after that and coughed up the ball on a couple of occasions at critical times near the end. Also thought young Daniels was superb for Waterford and got the better of the battle with McGrath (albeit he scored a few points). The goal chance at the end came from an overlap after Michael Walsh very uncharacteristically let a basic ball go right through him.
Two very average teams. Not going to be a good year for Munster hurling. Good to see Waterford go through though as they have more talent to come back into their team. Still there was very little pattern to their play, donāt look well coached.
Its Tippās Munster to lose alright, but I canāt see anyone other then KK at this stage for the AI. Galwayās backs didnāt look spectacular today either.
True enough I guess. Weāll have to see really, lot of weaknesses in that Cork team, and the half-forward line is only the start. Full-forward line is shite, full-back line was destroyed by Kilkenny, midfield looks all wrong etc.
Tipp will be much improved against Cork, will have bonner Maher back and a few more changes too. They wonāt run away with it but they will beat cork.
Bar Hannify and Dooley Offaly were dire. It was crucial they got a good start in the 2nd half but they didnāt and to borrow NBA parlance the vast majority of the half was played out in garbage time.
Galway are ticking the boxes nicely as the year develops. Div 1a League status retained, Leinster Final, Youth blooded, over reliance on Joe checked. Iād bring Flannery in for Skehill the next day, he was responsible for 2 of the goals last Sunday and his capacity for howlers is getting worse if anything. Collins will return in place of Cooney jr and I wouldnāt be surprised to see young Johnny Glynn come in for Niall Burke whose been finding the going tough lately.
If the likes of Donnellan and Tannion in particular can maintain their current level of form we can be competitive against Kilkenny and if Joe turns it on, who knows what might happenā¦
