Are Kilkenny and Dublin going to deliver the goods this weekend? Definitely the most anticipated match of the year so far.
Looking at the likely teams, perhaps the biggest question is whether or not the Dublin backs can hold the Kilkenny attack. Peter Kelly vs Eoin Larkin is a hugely important match-up and if either party wins that it could go a long way towards winning the game. At the other end JJ and Liam Rushe will be a fascinating duel if it happens. It’ll also be interesting to see how the probable Dublin wing-forwards Keaney and Sutcliffe get on against Tommy Walsh and Richie Doyle. Sutcliffe must be the first player in a long time, if it’s ever happened at all, to go to town on Walsh. Daly might be tempted to give him another run at it.

I’d say you would be better off just using surnames. That Tipp forward line looks to be lacking a bit of pace, I suppose they have Callinan and Corbett to add a bit of impetus off the bench
Shane Bourke, Corbett, and Callanan are three great subs to bring on. Eoin Kelly should show up if they’re in trouble as well. Interesting to see Tom Kenny back in the mix. He had no interest in playing for Walsh apparently.
McDonnell paid the price for his League final display I wonder? Thought he’d earned another chance from his performance in the League. Not sure about Murphy at FB at all. Kenny in the team - hasn’t looked at the races the last couple of years or in the League this year. Probably slightly better than Seán Óg at this stage, but still. Is Niall Mac injured or what? Not even on the bench?
Looking all around the pitch, you’d have to say we are in trouble if Tipp are anywhere near their best. They have serious options from the bench too. Hard to be any way confident about this, unless Tipp have their eye completely on later in the year as they did two years ago.
Can’t see what Kelly really offers you off the bench apart from a cool head, his legs are gone and when the pace ratchets up in the last 20 minutes he simply won’t have the mobility. Hard to think of a really intense game where he has played well in since the 2009 A/I final
Fennelly is a big loss but its a good chance for Paddy Hogan to impress. Not sure if he is up to this level though. Classy hurler but I wonder if he has the toughness that Cody regards as essential.
You’d think so, but I suppose they’ll fancy their chances of early goals and will set their full-forward line out accordingly. Eight goals to one in their last two championship games with Dublin and Dublin’s only goal came from a placed ball.
Dublin have made one change to their starting 15 for Saturday’s Leinster SHC semi-final against All-Ireland champions, Kilkenny, in O’Moore Park, Portlaoise (5.0).
Ryan O’Dwyer, who missed the opening round victory over Laois due to suspension, comes into the forward line at the expense of David Treacy.
