The King
Brian Hogan cleaning up at centre back.
Dublin making very poor use of whatever possession they get. Also giving away way too many frees.
Dubs getting a bit of a clipping along with the west Brit rooogby boys being hammeredâŚThis is a good day so far.
Dublin were badly rattled by the first goal and theyâve completely collapsed since the second. I still donât understand how or why Brady ended up full-back on Power but itâs been a complete disaster for them. Once Kilkenny started to get ball beyond the Dublin half-backline they ran riot. At the other end, the persistence with high ball on top of Delaney and Tyrrell has been equally disastrous. Rushe got absolutely nothing off JJ but the quality of ball didnât help. No interplay or good off the ball movement beyond that.
Iâm amazed at how quickly Dublin collapsed in such a massive game for them. All workrate and intensity disappeared after the 20th minute. For the second goal there were lads just jogging back towards their own goal with a Kilkenny goal imminent. Ridiculously easy for Kilkenny. Awful performance from Dublin.
Dublin hugely disappointing. Dunno why daly has them playing this way. Theyâre making it easy for us. That said, weâre motoring nicely.
Needed to see the replay to confirm how Power was left in so much space. Part of the reason was Brady had come out with the ball and totally messed up a handpass and was therefore out of position. But, as you say, there were other players that could have slotted in and covered for him but they simply ignored Power in space and jogged back. Pretty poor. The first goal was brilliantly worked though.
Clare fellas canât coach teams from other counties. Davy and Daly proving that.
What a point by Hogan.
Is Fennelly going to get away with that stroke after the free was given? Only Kilkenny.
Shocking amount of Kilkenny scores have been struck from standing positions. Theyâve managed to completely condense the space inside their own 45 despite Dublin playing âdirectâ hurling, and have created huge spaces in Dublinâs.
Brady actually did well there.
Terrible, terrible game. Leinster is muck.
This is really really poor from Dublin. They look way off the pace.
Even more concerning that they lost their Div 1 status, in the hopes of being at full throttle for the championship.
If you canât score from distance against Kilkenny you havenât much hope. Your half-forward line should get chances against them because of their half-backline holding their positions but if you shoot like Dublin do it makes no difference. Daly has been bashed in the past for playing an extra man in defence but they could have done with it today. Theyâre not getting any ball into their full-forward line anyway and the Kilkenny half-forward line playing so deep has left their full-backline badly exposed.
Better ânegativeâ tactics than getting raped like this.
I think Iâll try and get The Fields of Athenry going here.
Some of the kilkenny scores have been very easily taken even from early on. Richie Hogan got a point in the first half, about 45 yards out, centre of the goal and he was able to turn, have a look around and slot it over the bar with ease.
Things you knew theyâd say.
âWhat a sub to be able to bring onâ
âTaggy they call himâ
Dublin were a better team with Durkin and McCaffrey in the half-backline. Hiney doesnât look up to it and Carton probably needs to be moved on as well.
Hilarious anecdote about Rackard Cody there.
The dubs have no fight in em way off the pace
