Official 2012 All Ireland Hurling Championship Thread

That one stuck in my mind as well. I think that’s more evidence of why Dublin either needed to play their half-forward line much deeper or play an extra man at the back. They all look preoccupied with following their own man instead of closing down the Kilkenny player in possession.

A 3pt return second half, farcical.

Let’s hope tomorrow’s game delivers up something. Very poor championship to date.

The most anticipated game of the year draws a crowd of 12,000 and is a complete flop of a game. Crisis probably wouldn’t be that much of an exaggeration. Cork and Tipp better serve up a good one tomorrow.

It’s probably been better than some of the last few years though, at least there’s been some close competitive games. Says it all unfortunately. The hurling championship is in a bad way.

in fairness have you noticed the ball that went into rushe at fullforward ??..dublin backs and midfield were striking balls blindly up in
air…how you could blame rushe for that??..high ball is a defender’s ball, especially in hurling…compare the ball rushe got put into him and the measured passes kilkenny full forward line got…you can’t mark a lad when he’s getting that type of ball…
Dublin seem to be getting bet the same way in senior, U21 and minor when they meet the top teams - first touch and cuteness…disappointing but like i said before game…Cody burys teams when people start making noise about them…

Liam Sheedy can’t knot a tie. Is this acceptable in the bank now?

2013 should be a decent championship. Kilkenny will start to come back to the pack.

Controversial stuff from Richie Power there.

in fairness apart from John Mullane what forward tries to put the ball over the bar when your more than 10 points down in second half playing into a wind???..u need goals, u take an extra touch and try to work a goal where if the score was tighter you’d take a point…Mullane is a hero in Waterford for sticking the ball over the bar when they were 8 goals down to tipp last year…farcical…

I don’t think that’s what it was though. They drove a heap of terrible wides and never looked remotely like getting a goal. I think farcical sums it up.

thanks for that.

I think they were probably counting on their half forward line winning a lot of possession high up the pitch with keaney, sutcliffe and o’ dwyer, the early aerial bombardment would also suggest that. The loss of keaney and inability of rushe to compete with jj were big blows to their scoring chances though.
It’s very disappointing for Dublin and if Daly doesn’t turn it around in the qualifiers it’ll be time to move on

No need to start lashing out with comments like that, mate. No one likes to see a team get beat like that. Just let it go and move onto the next day.

“If we gathered up 20 at the Red Cow we couldn’t have been much worse”
“Something between the ears, psychological”

Daly not pulling punches.

Fucking hell, for the Richie Power goal Hiney ran away from the ball carrier and completely away from the danger zone. What the hell was in their heads at all?

Daly: “If we picked up 20 at the Red Cow and came down it could hardly have been worse…”

Their defending in that spell was completely headless.

no seriously…no matter what level ,we’ve all played in games where u know going out for second half that your facing a hiding…
the mind is gone as much as the body…to judge a team in that situation is a load of bollox…they were a beaten docket by then…picking up the ball and striking it was an issue by the end of that match for dublin players…thats how lost in the headlights they were…

first Polish team to play in leinster championship ??..

Daly is making them walk home from the red cow he is so mad.
