Official All Ireland Minor and U20 Hurling & Football Thread (Part 1)

Came up to Dave Power during the 1st half and roared “what do ye know about football, last year was a one off”

Power rightfully didn’t go into the Kerry dressing room after.

Disgusting.

Mickey Ned what a fucking useless cunt on the sideline I still blame him for his team selections and tactics when over Limerick.

Delighted for Tipp, wonderful consistency. They have made alot of very good decisions at county level (john Evans inspires no doubt) that go against the general gaa grain that has actually left them in a much better footballing position. It’s wonderful for Munster football to have them improving. If we ate going to stick with the farce that the football championships are right now at least would be nice to see Tipp emerge as a genuine force ( not unbelievable that they could surpass Kerry in next few years) and hopefully Clare can continue to improve. Clare and Tipp really have the best chances as they have reasonably large football only areas and strong clubs that can push forward their agendas. That certainly doesn’t exist in Waterford and Limericks set bunch of footballers have probably passed for a while.

Well done to Tipp

They must be an exceptional team: to have won it last year and still have 11 or 12 underage this year. Saw them in a few games last year and they looked a fine team. In the last two years in Munster they played Kerry or Cork 5 times and have won every time.

Kerry wont be too dissapointed: they came close against the Champs and were missing their best player as well. It will be interesting to see how they go from here. Surely Tipp will win it now.
Suppose its early to say if Tipp have an exceptional team right now or whether they will be able to respeat it year in year out. They have some top players on this team including Lonergan Maher and Quirke

tipp walloped them in tralee, they barely got over clare in ennis and then went from a position in the munster final where their manager felt confident enough of victory to vomit out all the bile he had to swallow in kerry since then back to a defeat

any decent minor side from here on with a solid defence and two players able to carry the ball at pace down the middle of the kerry defence will beat them easily.

after that the first item on the agenda of the kerry county board will be a new minor manager

the clare football area is being encroached on all the time by hurling. the minor hurling centre back is from milltown malbayfor example. the lisdoonvarna football club (disgracefully) had to quickly wind up their underage hurling set up as they won the under 14 d and the feile under 14 at a lower grade as well due to the progress they were making
on the upside for football ennis and shannon became a hurling wasteland for a while. cratloe have made huge strides in football and frankly the st josephs and wolfe tones clubs have a far better chance of winning a football county title than a hurling one so the seection options in both codes has expanded

no talk at all of the munster minor final. have we conceeded defeat in this to the all conquering tipp team? :shakefist:

nothing like a bit of complacencey in tipp supporters to boost their teams chances of a win

Expert on Munster minor football as well are you!!

Doubt they will be meeting that many teams that are much better than Tipp. Would you care to identify the teams that would beat them more easily than TIpp?!!

They wont be changing the minor manager in Kerry which is good news for Clare: Paidi is still available to go back to ye!!

are you off your head?

get on you tube there and have a look at whats out there. kerry dont have a single back that is capable of or inclined to deliver a physical tackle. they have a ton of lovely footballers theres no doubt about that but they dont have enough physical aggression

but maybe you are right and ye are going to sail to the final to play tipp again

Huh? Who said Kerry would get to final?
I was just asking you a question: who’s better than Tipp out there at the moment? Dublin? Maybe but Tipp have nearly all of their players since last year so I would say Tipp.

Thats based on challenges matches etc which Im sure you know about.

roscommon and meath along with dublin appear to be very good sideas and tyrone look very powerful

Dublin playing Kildare in Newbridge this evening for the right to meet Meath in Sunday week’s Leinster final.

I can see us getting close enough to Tipp if we can avoid silly goals as we have been doing and reduce the amount of frees conceded. The 3 games will benefit us and if Duggan maintains his performance level we’ll be in touch.

Tipp have the look of a very good minor side though so is give them the nod by about 5.

Yip so the grapevine goes: Tyrone and Dublin should be good but surely Tipp to win it-they have some exceptional players. Still anything can happen with minors.

Kildare 1-5 Dublin 0-8 at half time

The line-up for Saturday’s game shows four changes from the starting fifteen that defeated Offaly last weekend, with Damien Cahalane making his Championship début at full back. Eoin Cadogan returns to the team following his involvement in Cork’s Munster Football Final victory last Sunday, and Niall McCarthy is back from injury, having come on as a sub against Offaly. Pa Cronin partners Lorcán McLoughlin at mid-field, while Luke O’Farrell comes in at full forward, with Jamie Coughlan making way. Conor O’Sullivan, William Egan and Darren Sweetnam are named in the substitutes.

Looks weak. And random. Usually I’m good at least rationalising management’s decisions but some wierd calls here.

This is the minors thread turenne, you’ll confuse tan - come on like!

Have to disagree with you Turenne. I love that team, especially the backs. If we are building for the future he is right to play Cahalane and Joyce up the middle. I thought Egan was poor enough against Tipp and from what I was told was not much better against Offally.

We have being seriously lacking in the aggression stakes and there is plenty of aggression in that team.

I applaud JBM and his selectors, this is a ballsy selection.
