Get rid of that bullshit rule forbidding lads playing Senior if they plays for the 20s.

The hurling apartheid is finally over. Congress has ratified that the Galway minor hurlers will finally play in a provincial championship.

The Wolves putting this to bed early.

Down backboned by eight (8) Burren starters turning over Ruairi Canavan and co tonight.

8 starters from one club must be some sort of record on a County Underage panel.

Although i do remember a huge number of Newmarket on Fergus golden generation starting for Clare U21 hurlers around 2006 or 2007. Maybe @Big_Dan_Campbell would know more. Mr. Devitt was in goals, Barrett x2, The Gaff, Colin Ryan, Shane O’Brien, Sconie Kilmartin… maybe one more?

Kelly maybe

James McInerney?

He was definitely there alright

I’m fairly sure he was there.

Is that Stephen Kelly the soccer player you are referring to @PasqualePaoli
He might have been a sub?

Pat Kelly was the 21s keeper ahead of Devitt in 2007.

Eoin O’Brien that later made the Clare panel would be better known from soccer. Kelly is a decent club hurler

I must root out the programme from Tipp v Clare in 2006. Mr. Devitt was definitely in goals that year. Maybe Colin Ryan didnt play that year as he was still minor but most of the rest would have.

Kelly got a senior call up under Mike Mac but had to opt out. His back wasn’t up to the level of training

Eoin Hayes is the really good soccer player but he would be a bit younger. Eoin O’Brien and Kelly are/were good too.

Hayes went to town against Tipp in the U21 Munster Final of 2010.

Ryan was a sub in 2006

James Mc
Devitt
Sconie
Shane O’Brien
Gaffney

All would have started. Think Martin o Hanlon was in the mix too. Don’t think either Barrett featured - Enda was still a minor, other Barrett was more of a late bloomer

CLARE (U21 HC v Cork): P. Kelly (Inagh); C. O’Doherty (Crusheen), C. Cooney (O’Callaghans Mills), A. Kilmartin (Newmarket); G. O’Connell (Wolfe Tones), E. Barrett (Newmarket), S. O’Brien (do.); J. McInerney (do.), J. Clancy (Clarecastle); M. Flaherty (Killanena), D. Barrett (Newmarket), D. Browne (Cratloe); G. Arthur (Inagh), B. Gaffney (Newmarket), C. Ryan (do.).

7x starters in 2007.

Was Devitt still underage?

I think so. Think Barrett and Gaffney were in the states in 2008 and missed the famous Munster final

You are correct.

Barrett was back in 2009 for the AI win.

The Gaff never saw a Clare jersey again i would say.
