Nothing new under the sun.
Over confident, then fill the togs.
I couldnât disagree more. These competitions are meant to be about development. Using dublin as an example this year we will get 3 x round robin matches against teams of a similar standard followed by at least one knockout game and hopefully more. Last year after 6 months training we lost by a point to Wexford and that was the season over. With the split season there is plenty of time to play these games so let them at it.
Kildare and Meath into the open draw for the Leinster U20 football semi finals alongside Laois and Dublin. A lovely traditional feel to that top 4.
Laois v Kildare
Dublin v Meath
That he is. His club mate Sean Gallagher at midfield is probably a better full back imho but Paddy can excel anywhere 2 to 7. I think Sean would make an excellent I/C corner back, really athletic and keeps it simple with his hurling.
Two good lads made of the right stuff
Waterford v Clare under 20s called off
Who could have foreseen all these postponements by moving the heavy lifting in the underage championships from June/July to March/April. This is causing havoc to the calendar watching split season zealots. Surely thereâs an all weather pitch or two out there that could be used to tick the boxes and get these games out of the way.
There were Harty Cup Knockout games played on Astro Turfs on the first week of January to clear the decks for this.
Poor game in Pairc Tailteann - meath lead by one at HT playing with a strong breeze. Lethal Lenny well marshalled as Meath getting bodies back. Crokes Noah Byrne has been the pick of the forwards - lovely runner with the ball and set up the opening goal. Like most Meath underage teams they have a few mullockers
And byrne scores a peach of a goal in the opening minutes.
Lethal Lenny opens his account with a 30 m free
Byrne is from the finest Galway stock. Grew up a Galway fanatic as well. Tâwould break your heart. Looks a fine player in the making. Father is a sheep stealer I believe.
Heâs very good. Great link man and runner. Reminds me of Gary Sweeney who was the pick of the Dublin u21s in the early noughties.
The Down renaissance under Conor Laverty and backboned by Burren continues unabated.
Who is this lethal Lenny lad ?
Lenny Cahill castleknock
11 of the panel of 24 named tonight are from Burren, Lisbellaw hardly enjoyed that level of domination in Fermanagh hurling teams when there were only 3 clubs to pick from. Good to see some underage promise but the standard was fairly average. The fun starts now with the final and the nonsense 7 day rule, one or both of Derry and Down are scheduled to have a senior game each of the next 3 weekends.
Only a matter of time before Burren take over from Kilcoo.
Theyâll have some fun agreeing a date for the final so
Lisbellew often has 14 starters! We played them one year and theyâd 14 of the team and scattering of subs
