Bones of that team are last yearās Offaly minors. Good to see them kick on. Who was that on the ground?
The management had high hopes but have set that bunch of players back years. An absolutely embarrassing campaign. Our development office for a few years is with Offaly now and made the right move.
Duignanās men are comingā¦
Galway without their two best players in Collins and Killeen but it was yet another desperate U20 campaign. Hanley was fairly non plussed after the Kilkenny game. Iād say he just expected them to win a game and make the semis anyway. It was a shambolic campaign from start to finish and there should be major fall out from this. Year after year players seem to regress from minor to U20. The coaching is just sub standard and thatās the truth of it.
Cormac Egan who rocked the mullet in the U20 football winning team in 2021 was hurling for them today as well it seems. Some win considering a lot of those lads would only be 18 this year.
Donāt get carried away. One particularly good year. Nothing major coming behind them.
Yes he played both all the way up. Chose to join these lads when the football u20s were knocked out rather than take up an offer tojoin the senior football panel
Yeah I was surprised when Wexford beat them by 11 points in the minor a few weeks back.
One good year at minor has served offaly well in the past. They are remarkably proficient at making a bit of talent go a long way. In both codes!
Not like that in 2023.
Duignan has Offaly purring
A very admirable county, especially now theyāre getting organised. We had our foot on their throats about 10 years ago through the setanta with Critchley and Cheddar and through lack of funding and sheer county board incompetence, weāve let it all fall to ruin. Heartbreaking.
Not like that in 2023.
Limerick dominating from the core of two U21 teams in 2015 and 2017. Waterford competitive because of the 2016 U21ās. A couple of good groups merged together could be enough to have Offaly challenging for a top 3 spot in the Leinster round robin at some stage around 2027.
Galway out at this stage considering they won the minor three years ago is a big shock.
Okā¦that means very little, lets be honest.

A group of lads with another two years at U20ās turning over a highly fancied Galway is promising nonetheless. Massive for a Joe McDonagh county.
That team were the most impressive of their 4 in a row teams I thought. Killeen at centre back, Molloy corner forward, thomas, lee, collinsā¦
I really thought theyād take stopping in this competition.
I suppose it just puts the legitimacy of winning at minor level further into question.
Obviously no Killeen or Collins is a massive loss.
A bollox rule. Iām sick of giving out about it

Itās staggering how few teams are converting minor titles into U20ās since they changed the age groups from U18 and U21. None of the Kerry 5 in a row minors won an U20 (or U21 in 2017). Same applies with the Galway 4 in a row minor team too.
