Official All Ireland Minor and U20 Hurling & Football Thread (Part 1)

I suspect we’ll do it next year under O’Connor.

A campaign where they could only beat Wexford and lose to Dublin and offaly and get humiliated by Kilkenny. No caught on the hop there.

Pat Mac would want to lend them the framework of what young lad gets promoted from the grill to the till in supermacs, they have no idea how to develop talent.

That’s true. They have to. They’ve always had a tiny pick with two codes in a small vounty. They’ve already done well with these lads, winning a Leinster and an Leinster schools with amalgamation team.
They were very careless with the u20 football All Ireland winners, dogged them and loads of them have long term injuries. I think only one will start for the seniors tomorrow

Well done to the biffos and Michael Duignan. But considering the success at minor this has been an absolutely shambolic campaign for the U20 hurlers. Heads should roll over this.

Galway are gone?

A nice grey area about to get exposure over the next 10 days in the under 20 Leinster semi final between Dublin and Offaly.

Dublin will be more than likely without FOTF Paddy Doyle as he will incur the wrath of the 7 day rule as he will more than likely feature for the seniors next Saturday and be ruled out.

Offaly full forward Charlie Mitchel will play Joe Mc next weekend but will still be eligible for the under 20 game as Joe Mc counties are exempt from the 7 day rule.

Ah that’s shocking, Jesus christ.

Under 17’s are essentially TY’s.

Nothing can be read into it as regards future prospects.

You can pick out a promising individual at that level but nothing more.

Galway in hurling and Kerry in football who have dominated the early under 17 years from 2018 haven’t translated that success to under 20.

I see the Wexford children’s hurling match tomorrow is available to watch online. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it already but I simply can’t fathom why the GAA did a media rights deal that saw several of our senior games being banned from being shown online.

Madness.

There were only 700 people at Limerick v Cork in U20 Hurling the other night.

There is a complete saturation with these games. Counties are out 4 or 5 times a week now between U17 and U20 Hurling and Football and the competitions are passing people by.

One thing that i am happy about this year is that there does seem to be a few lung lads breaking through at Senior. Fitzgerald x2 are performing well for Waterford, Adam Hogan for Clare, FOTF Paddy Doyle for Dublin and those lads Galway brought on today. Its good to see after some desperately poor years for lung lads. There are no Tony Kellys, Austin Gleeson’s or Noel McGraths in this crop but at least its something.

it was only half a Wexford team too, I was surprised that there was only 3 in it considering the players we were missing, not sure how many Galway had out as it was a pretty meaningless game, but the fact they didnt win more comfortably was a sign of things to come.

I didn’t know that. Christ. There’s just clearly no development, no coaching. Almost like winning a minor shows they are good enough so let’s just get them fit

6 points in the first 20 minutes for Aaron Niland. Some right dingers.

Watching it. Burke in midfield is class also.

Dublin are very poor. Galway still in 1st gear, 25 minutes gone, 17 points ahead.

Bit of fight in this Wexford team.

We need a goal badly though.

Wexford… :roll_eyes::roll_eyes::roll_eyes::roll_eyes::roll_eyes:

And lads worrying about u20s underperforming when we’ve another crack minor team to squander!!

Joe Rabittes son playing ff (one for the things that make you feel old thread).

Best for dublin were Purcell (presumably a younger brother of the good crokes lad) and Micheail Tierney from Barrog who i reckon is a grandson of the former Galway 3iar great Noel Tierney
