Were there many of the Tulla Harty Cup winning team on that Clare side tonight? They seemed like a crew with great heart last year. A small school winning a competition like that invariably breeds some great character for inter-county teams. Likes of Noel Hickey and Callan CBS spring to mind.
Only a final I think. Cork play the winner of Wexford v Offaly in the All-Ireland final as far as I know.
Same manager
That Tulla team was built around Adam Hogan locking down marquee forwards and Sean Wythecombeâs excellent free taking and a lot of graft
Keeper and Oisin Clune were on the team and Cleary off the bench, while Ronan OâConnor was an unused sub. A few more on the extended panel
Only Oisin Clune I think, Adam Hogan would have been another. Terence Fahy was over that team too so wouldnât have passed over on anyone that was worth it.
He wasnât far wrong
Is Joyce underage too?
You were all at fault in truth
No.
No
Cork the better team and had much better interplay. I was impressed by 4, 9 and 14 in particular. Cunningham was not especially good despite comments here, a bit disappointed with him to be honest but he is young.
Of all the players on the field I would say John Connelly is the only one who could play senior this year.
I thought Cunningham did well but I am somewhat disappointed we had Clune pick him up full time in both games. He is probably out most limited defender and felt others would have done a far better job on him.
Thatâs nearly why Iâm knocking him, he should have been dominant and wasnât
Two outstanding u20 sides. Clare more skilful, cork more powerful, both as game as you could ever ask for. One pivotal free though, Clare lad caught it, cork back took the hand off him, two further cork lads wrapped both arms around him. Free to cork.
Cork definitely the more skillful team in my view. Looked slicker throughout the game but through errors they couldnât put a plucky Clare side away. Cork should have had 4 goals.
This Clare team, as shown throughout the championship, are well coached and have some very good individual players. Theyâll be a force at u20 for the next few years and who would have thought it in 2021 after the mauling they got.
Ben Cunningham missed 4 frees tonight.
Iâd say youâd have to go back years to when Horgan did that. Ridiculous to say he is better than Hoggy.
He missed a straightforward 65 to level a Munster Club Semi Final last winter too.
Heâs young and will improve but saying heâs better than Hoggy now is ridiculous.
He will never be better than Hoggy.,
Forde, Hoggy, TJ Reid are all beautiful cutters of the ball. Cunningham cannot do this nor ever will be able to.
cork back took the hand off him
He was 100% right to do it. Werenât we all told to do that at U12s. Clare lad took it well too.
Wouldnât be that long ago at all. Whether it is age, or the whole hullabaloo with the yellow ball, but Horgan is no longer a great free taker. Dalton should be on every Cork free. A banker to miss one if not two handy ones a game. Plus he no longer can hit long ones. Cunningham missed a few but he got a couple Horgan can no longer score.
Still itâs a free. Clare lad had it in his hand
