Derry baffle me. Their performance aginst Dublin in the quarter final of the championship in 2007 suggested that they were a coming team but it hasn’t happened. They should be a lot better than they are, they show it in flashes, for instance they won the League in 2008, annihilated Dublin in a league match last year and annihilated Monaghan in the championship but they always flop next time out. They’ve had consistently had excellent underage teams over the last 15 years. I don’t know why that hasn’t translated into senior success. There must be something wrong in the management there. Damien Cassidy has been hopeless. But there’s other factors too. They seem to take club football much more seriously than the county. Derry club teams are always strong and it’s probably the most competitive club championship in the country. But when it comes to the county set up it’s almost like they don’t give a shit. Their second half effort there was pathetic. Their support is derisory too and has been since 1993.
He’s doing a good job. I wouldn’t take any notice of blanket defense for a game like todays, thats what was needed against those fellas. I expect them to open up as the summer develops.
The wanking over Kerry has begun.
Why is there a minutes silence for those who died in the famine?
Kerry are great. John Evans is great. Tipp are great, they’re making great strides. Munster is great. Stay tuned for great football. Ulster on the other hand is shit. Worse than shit.
Game on Darragh
Superb goal
Munster is terrible for this craic. Can’t speak for anywhere else, but down here every single game will feature a minutes silence for some randomer who once bought a raffle ticket off the county chairman or something.
A celebration of the magnificent, mould-breaking Down team of 1960 and 1961 on BBC 2 now.
Terrible mistake by Johnny Culloty there.
Penalty for Down. What a bullet from Paddy Doherty.
Stone cold Philly Austin super finish
Kerry finding it easier to score though. MacDonald should be on the Gooch
Ah this handpass rule is a complete joke.
I’m already sick of hearing the phrase “underhand striking action”
I konw they went behind to that goal but Kerry are looking inmpressive here I think. Particularly up front where they’re clicking excellently.
1960 Down sub PJ McElroy under the thumb big time. “The wife demanded the medal”. 50 years later she’s still wearing it around her neck. The Armagh woman kept her maiden name and only grudgingly recognises the achievement of her husband’s team.
Looks like Fox could be on as a permanent sub, hughie is in a bad way supposedly. Typical kerry thuggery <_<
Fox is a better man to carry the ball whereas Hughie offers mores physicality around the midfield
Edit: coughlan is back on. tough cunts out around moyne!
BBC 2 didn’t show any footage of the 1961 final but here it is anyway:
wicklow 1-06 to -06 up against Carlow.
Tipp have the wind and its strong enough. would want to get a few more points on the board.
“The movement of the Kerry fowards is something to behold”, says Darragh Moloney. “The movement of the Kerry forwards is wonderful”, says Martin Carney. Tipperary leading.
Yes.
