Useless in terms of football skills yes, but watched that Cork Dublin semi again recently (thanks Fitzy) the amount of assists he gave Bernard Brogan that day was unreal. Sure he kicked some stupid wides but after they took him off they struggled to win the ball inside. Same in the league final, last 20 mins they could have done with him as a target man.
Dont doubt Connolly is a better footballer, fuck knows give bandage or myself a football for a few weeks and we would probably have more skill than OāGara, but has he ever really produced it in an All Ireland quarter final or semi for Dublin. He is knocking around a good while like. Will see what he is like with McMenamin from Tyrone marking him in August or someone like that.
Cahill should be able to carry the ball similar to Shane Ryan. He is good to score too and too good a footballer to have on the bench. McManamon had a cracking league final despite what seemed like excess weight around his gut, think he will do well. Dublin have a lot of limited players but there isnt much else out there. They should have beaten Cork last year and will be in the shake up this year for sure. Id worry about the sideline though, there seems to be too many lads starting looking over their shoulders to the touchline around the 50 min mark. Gilroy will need to trust his players more imo and leave his best players on for the entire game if possible. Not nonsense like taking Alan Brogan, Cullen etc off early and replacing them with muck. Read some shit lately about their plan of introducing David Henry at half forward in the last 20 mins in upcoming games. That to me is nonsense and the kind of thing that would have me worried if I was a Dublin fan.
Its complete bollix that Dublin āshould haveā beaten Cork last year. They didnāt because they didnāt have the overall game for it and Cork steam rolled them like they did most other teams in the last 15. Discipline is part of playing the game, its as necessary as being able to tackle correctly or kick the ball. Also they were not fit enough for the game they played. Maybe the management (another key part) knew this and just wanted to progress as far as possible with a bigger overall plan, but i doubt it, i think they just got it wrong and underestimated Corks fitness and bench.
Limerick full backline is a mess. Kerry can have as much as they like here. Feel sorry for Limerick, can see Kerry pulling up though and evidence there of it already in taking points when goals may have been available.
