Some counties run their junior championships over the summer as clubs involved don’t have players away with the county. I recall the junior championship being delayed for 2 months in one case because 1 club had 1 player involved with the county minor team who were making their way to the All-Ireland final - club wouldn’t field without him and county board couldn’t force the issue. That is the type of nonsense that has to be got rid of.
Lads shouted TUM down when he posted this and said that was fine for Dublin super clubs.
Now they are singing a different tune after a spate of referee assaults outside the capital.
it’s the ball wall argument but for football
He is completely wrong, but that never stopped our Kev.
you can create context yourself, i’m not going away until I kick 10 in a row etc etc, starts putting pressure on kicks 9 & 10 or not changing position until I kick 10, you get me
There’s loads you can do.
Kev likes to think these lads are just aimlessly kicking balls in the hope they go over.
Same in every sport. If you’re just practising putts for the sake of it in golf, there’s nothing to achieve but if you try and make x amount in a row or x amount without a certain amount of inches all of a sudden there’s a goal
Fella - nothing of benefit can occur unless the all-knowing coach/guru is there to oversee and inspire it.
There’s no fee associated with pucking a ball against a wall / kicking a bag of balls.
Paraic would make a great poster on TFK
He’s an absolute dose
Val Andrews had a decent twitter account for coaching. He seems have gone a bit mad over the past few weeks
Way too many coaches have his mindset. We actually had to do extra laps one night a couple of years ago for shooting before training rather than kick passing in groups of 3. It’s little wonder there’s so few players confident of taking their score in the final 3rd. You need to be practising shots of both feet to develop properly. Just look at what Mick Bohan did with Eoghan O’ Gara from repetitive shooting drills alone.
Was just about to comment that I was fairly sure Michael Murphy had won a Donegal SFC with Glenswilly.
i was coaching a semi decent soccer side a few years ago and things weren’t going great, a bit like Stephen Kenny, the performances were good but we were getting beat. I was out of ideas and the lads landed on, changed and out, no cones, 30 balls, I just wanted to see what they’d do, no plan. Bang away the balls lads, within 5 minutes there was a game of ball going, pure freedom, no positions, 2 big goals half sized pitch, I joined in, fucking ferocious standard. We went on a nice run after, all the poison was gone… It doesn’t always have to be scientific
