Helen McEntee has bigger hands than Peader Toibín.
PBP-SOL on 3.
I’d imagine they’ll be a party forgotten about it within one or two election cycles.
Parties like the Greens and Labour rebuild. They’ll go from (relative) boom to bust and back, but won’t disappear.
Do the percentages for seats gained/lost for both parties
The vaccine will do that alright.
Greens were decimated mate. What election were you watching. The only reason they had a mini boon last time was because SF got huge surpluses and didnt run enough candidates. The electorate have overwhelmingly rejected them now. Twice. I cant see a way back.
They lost all six seats in 2011. They came back. Went into government again. Same thing happened.
It’ll happen again.
Why?
I think it paints a very different picture.
Aontú have doubled their seat total (at least)
The greens have brought in one of twelve.
It wont. Its a handy like earner for you here though with these claims. Not even the most optimistic green party member could see it. They’ll likely go the way of the Progressive Democrats.
Greens 1 seat 3% wipeout
Aontu 2 seats 4% huge success

I think it paints a very different picture.
Aontú have doubled their seat total (at least)
The greens have brought in one of twelve.
In the 2020 election, Aontú had .0625% of the seats in the Dáil.
They’re currently at 1.15% of the seats which is a decent increase and could end up at 1.7%
Aontu talk about “social justice” but they’re an anti-abortion party. If you’re serious about social justice you’ll already be pro-choice. That only leaves the sort of people who liked Renua as Aontu’s “market”, or headbangers with views similar to @Fulvio.
That equals a headbanger right wing party and all the awful views that go along with that. Transfer patterns demonstrate that.
The idea of an anti-abortion party that supports “social justice” is an oxymoron. With Aontu “belief in social justice” is only branding, not real.
They’re Toibin’s vehicle and only have any miniscule success at all because he’s able to string a few sentences together and appear confident. Without Toibin they go extinct, quickly.
Aontu have govt funding now. They have developed a grass roots. They are trending in the right direction from absolutely nothing. Hopefully they can build a bit of momentum now and go from strength to Strength.
Michael Martin and ?
I’ve no huge skin in the game here. But I’d be very surprised if this is the end of the Greens.
Labour went from 37 to as low as 6 in two election cycles and a few predicted they’d be gone altogether.
Pringle goes 400 clear of McConalogue after the SF transfers.
Probably won’t be enough with FG transfers to come.
Abortion is another form of genocide.
It is not healthcare. We must protect the unborn and those without a voice.
