40 years ago today, 29 May 1985, Liverpool ‘fans’ went on the rampage at the Heysel Stadium. 39 lost their lives.
Horrendous. Mental to think the game went ahead with 39 dead.
There was a tough listen on Morning Ireland before 8am. An Irish lad living in Brussels at the time. Was stuck in the middle of it. Got up with two dead bodies beside him. Still scarred from it. He knew where the blame lay.
It was the subject of Miscellany Sunday last weekend. Thought it was odd the day Liverpool were presented with the league trophy
I think it was lawrenson who ended up in hospital in Brussels after the game and he was told to take off his Liverpool tracksuit top as the Italians were going mental in there
