On this day

Bill Beaumont turned 62 today. England’s great triumph over Wales at Twickenham today no doubt brought back many happy memories for Bill of that famous 9-8 win over in Wales in England’s Grand Slam winning year of 1980.

Behan was down on his luck one time and tapped a snooty looking fucker for a few bob. Yer man said “Neither a borrower nor a lender be - Shakespeare” to which Behan replied “Fuck Off - Behan”

50 years dead. God rest him.

Not an actual event, a date in a film storyline.

On this day in 1944, 76 Allied Prisoners tunnelled out of Stalag Luft III in Zagan, Poland. 73 were recaptured, 50 executed, 3 actually made it back to safety. The subsequent 1960’s film was highly inaccurate in that no American prisoners actually escaped and there were no motorcycles involved.
