I think Italia '90 was the first real sporting memory I have being 10 at the time. Days of endless games of soccer and then the games each night. Recollections of hiding behind the couch during the peno shootout due to the tension and then the entire world going batshit crazy when we won - lads in the middle of roundabouts, cars with tricolours etc …
Its amazing there hasn’t been more made of this in the media or online.
40 years ago today Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency in India, basically as she had been ordered by a court to resign and refused to do so. It led to among other things, hundreds of thousands of people being sterilised on the orders of her son Sanjay.
