Thereā€™ll be some champagne corks popped back in monkstown

There wonā€™t be a boat sailed in Monkstown with all the excitement.

Murphy is a rare breed, a sound Cork man

You donā€™t see enough nervous and overcome with emotion lads accepting awards at these things. Added a lovely sincerity to the speech.

Fact

Thatā€™s Amore will put on a spread

Heā€™s actually the second Best Actor nominee from there, the first winner though

Himself and Jimmy Barry Murphy were voted the two soundest men in Ireland on a tfk poll recently.

Thatā€™s fantastic. Kieran is fierce annoying. There was a case 20 years ago or do where he was caught rotten copying Hugh mclivanney paragraphs verbatim for his star column. Havenā€™t seen it mentioned since

Heā€™s the reverse Ewan at this stage.

I thought that was Tony Leen, whom @Bandage exposed.

No it was definitely him too

Ah lovely

As Shaggy once said, it wasnā€™t me. I canā€™t recall who it was but it may have been an account set up specifically for the purpose? Maybe someone in the journalism game whoā€™d copped it & wanted to get it out there. If I recall correctly, heā€™d reproduced McIlvanyā€™s piece in the aftermath of Jock Steinā€™s sudden death as a tribute to Paidi Oā€™Se who similarly died suddenly. The Sunday Times ran a story on it then, saying the similarities were noticed on the terrific Internet site, thefreekick.com. Think Leen subsequently did a mea culpa article & said he didnā€™t intend to plagiarise, it was just that the classic McIlvany piece was ingrained in his mind & the same feelings were subconsciously stirred up when Paidi died. Or something like that, might be worth searching our archives.
