It was interesting that Mitrovic exploited the same right hand side of that Portuguese defence that collapsed so spectacularly against Germany in the Euros.
Yer man Santos has clearly run his course in charge of that Portuguese team.
However they probably have a justified gripe over the goal that wasn’t when they played in Belgrade, which would have won them the group.
Serbia’s manager is Dragan Stojkovic. It’s rare that a great player makes a good manager. There are few better things in sport than a gifted Balkan ball player. He was one of the very best. And that Yugoslavia kit

It may not even have to be. Italy could win tonight and not win the group. Switzerland need to make up two goals on them, but also equal the total number of goals Italy score in the group.
Current goal difference is
Italy F13 A2
Switzerland F11 A2
1-0 to Italy in Belfast and 3-0 to Switzerland at home to Bulgaria would do it for the Swiss - who would progress on away goals in the head to heads.
But 2-1 to Italy and 3-0 to the Swiss would see Italy win the group.
