Paul Gallen faces 1 week ban

Cronulla skipper Paul Gallen is facing a week on the sidelines for a crusher tackle on North Queensland’s Scott Bolton after being hit with a grade one dangerous contact charge.

Gallen was placed on report in Cronulla’s 31-18 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday.

An early guilty plea carries 90 base points but Gallen’s 38 carry over points could result in the ban. He faces a one week suspension even if he fights the charge and loses.

If outed, Gallen will miss Cronulla’s last regular season match against Canberra.

Roosters prop Sam Moa wasn’t charged despite being put on report but teammate Frank-Paul Nu’uausala was hit with a grade one dangerous throw.

Nu’uausala along with Brisbane duo Dunamis Lui and Peter Wallace plus Canterbury back-rower Josh Jackson won’t miss matches with an early guilty plea.
