They’d be fairly close to the van. Between 10 and 20 metres id say assuming a lane on the road is about 3.5m wide.

The radars operate at a 22 degree angle.

Would that apply for all speed cameras. Say one on a motorway - how far away can they get you and must you be only car within range

It wouldn’t apply for the “hairdryer” laser gun anyway. For those the Garda needs to pull you over to charge you. The range on those would be more than the speed van. Up to 1km apparently.

The GoSafe vans take an image and record the speed of the vehicle. If there was more than 1 vehicle in the image they post out with the fine then you’d have a fair chance of getting it quashed if you took it to court.
