I thought Liverpool fans were bad in their blind faith towards Dalglish but Arsenal fans are arguably worse, they have a manager who hasnât won anything in years, a manager who is one of the highest paid in the game yet is always cribbing about the finances of other clubs and how they canât compete with them, yet he is paid more than the likes of Mancini. Wenger only cares in the bottom line as do the Arsenal shareholders but how the fans are not trying to drive him out of the club is amazing. The guy is fleecing their club and they are oblivious to it.
Ah lovely.

The team has been getting steadily worse while this dinosaur sticks to the same failed formula. He has actually created a culture at Arsenal where not winning any trophies has become acceptable. Staggering.[/quote]
I donât think he has created that culture. He is strangely held to account for the clubâs financial decisions and has had them consistently just below the title contenders who have all spent far far more. Their financial model is to service their debt, thatâs hardly his decision.
They should have won the league a few years back but crashed spectacularly after Gallas went sitting on the pitch after losing at Birmingham. The club has been on the slide since
In terms of individual players they should be challenging imo better keeper needed but they
have a lot of quality in the squad. Surely have as good if not better players than United at the back and in midfield. Hasnât been able to install a real winning mentality into the players for quite some time. Saw them at Villa a few weeks back and was stunned at how the players couldnât be arsed pushing on for the win. United on the other hand 2-0 at Villa and once they got one back it was inevitable they would drive on to win.
That reminds me of Dalglish saying that winning the Carling Cup surpasses qualifying for the Champions League. He was rightly villified for that comment in my view, particularly when you were as far off fourth place as Liverpool were last season. Arsenalâs consistent Champions League showing must count for something.
to the fansâŚall that mattersâŚsilverwareâŚbragging rights, donât you know
I always find it interesting how none of their top players ever want to stay. I know they have a wage-cap or whatever but thereâs been some amount of players that have shown zero loyalty to the club or Wenger as soon as a bigger club comes along. Van Persie, Clichy, Nasri, Fabregas, Hleb, Flamini,Toure, Cole, even Henry had to be given a million quid as a gift to stay on for an extra season.
Wengerâs an accountantâs dream but he doesnât seem to be able to create a culture or vision that the top players are interested in buying into. At least not these days anyway. I used to really admire his teams a decade ago, or whenever it was last that they actually had some backbone about them.
true, even Fergie was able to hold onto Rooney despite his bullshit. With the exception of Ronaldo, Fergie gets rid of his players when he wants to not when they fancy heading off. Wenger used have that, Petit, Overmars, probably Vieria. But as you have said plenty more have headed for the door before their time was up as top players since then
The team that knocked out Wengerâs lot tonight cost ÂŁ7500 and a friendly at Guiseley. Now thatâs financial prudence.
I doubt theyâd qualify for the Champions League, or the Group Stages of such. But thats the magic of the cup, the great giantkilling feats of yesteryear live on, God Bless the Cup.
Wenger changed football in England for the better. Before him it was one big piss up and hoof ball⌠he introduced fitness and a wonderful brand of football that was the envy of everyone. Goes unbeaten in a league winning season too. The financial limitations he has had to put up with in recent years have been a curse and with the millions other teams have been regularly able to throw at their team, he has done a top class job finishing in the top 4 every year. He is one if the greatest managers if all time, end if.
I would agree with that sentiment to an extent. I would think that it would be very much a case of careful what you wish for to those Arsenal fans want rid of him. He has done a fine job there in the grand scheme of things
A new manager, with limited funds⌠could easily see themselves outside the top 4, and it aint so easy to get back in there.
Totti has rehased the same old lines here, nothing new in that. But youâd think the misunderstood aching artist, Thrawneen, could draw some resonance with Wenger.

He policy, whether itâs Wengerâs or the clubâs, of not offering anything more than a year to players over 30 certainly didnât help them. Do they still have that policy?
A mate of mine from work who is an Arsenal fan was telling me he travelled to Bradford for the match last night.
From Paris ?
Keep up.
I must say that I find the general failure of the forum to keep pace with the Dunphâs globetrotting to be quite tiresome.
Where are you based now, Dunph?
