Penalty Shoot-Out Alert

I look at the sick, rotten, ugly culture that has been perpetuated in pursuits such as horse racing, where the money of Arab sheikhs is the only thing that matters and the winner of Cheltenham Gold Cup was happily murdered by his owners.

I look at rugby, where ear-biting, eye gouging, child rape and bribing Gardai to get rid of penalty points are commonplace.

I look at golf, where the gameā€™s former poster boy turns out to be a misogynist control freak and his successor whores his nationality for sponsorship purposes.

Then I look at association football, and think to myself how lucky football is and how lucky football people are to have a man as great as Arsene Wenger to look up to, a man who embodies the values of honesty, integrity, hard work, dignity. Doing things the right way. A man who opened the culture of English football up to the forces of the enlightenment. A man who believes in the beautiful game.

The greatest Arsenal manager since Herbert Chapman, and the greatest manager of any club since the great Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish managed Liverpool between 1985 and 1991.

In light of having built a brand new stadium, I think net spend is a very valid argument. Not many clubs could fork out huge sums like that, and lose their best players and still continue to play at the top tier of football. An amazing achievementā€¦Who are these ā€˜shitā€™ players?? Iā€™d only rate Santos and Gervinho as shit.

Be interseting to see what money he gets in January if the board are gonna back him. I believe the club have a lot of sponsorship money that comes alive in the new year.

Iā€™m almost certain there was a study done or a book written which proved categorically that money spent on wages in the American sports and the major soccer leagues almost exactly equated to the success they though. If TASE and the lads keep rolleying me I might just bother my hole to search it out and make complete cunts of them.
In general Arsenal probably do punch slightly above or at least level with their weight to be fair. That record of reaching the knock out stages of the champions league is impressive enough too. By the law of averages Wenger should have won at least one trophy in recent years though I suppose.[/quote]

They should probably have won something over that period alright but Iā€™m truth the odd FA Cup or whatever would be relatively meaningless in assessing his success.

Can we please discuss the issue of Wengerā€™s salary? Why is he paid so highly when Arsenal have been so unsuccessful over such a sustained period of time? Are the Arsenal fans that naive to the point that they canā€™t see he is fleecing them? And forget about net spend, Arsenal must have one of the top ten most expensively assembled squads in Europe as well as figuring in the top 10 in terms of their wage bill.

I think thatā€™s more or less what everyone is arguing for and against about the last few pages?

I donā€™t think so, gola.

Anyone else hope Martin o Neill dies before Christmas?

Possible penalty shoot-out on ESPN shortly.

Jinxed

Burkina Faso v Ghana, African Nations Cup semi final on Eurosport. ( Burkina Faso have been robbed :shakefist: )

Penalty Shootout alert.

Comedy gold stuff here

Justice for Burkina Faso

If heaven existed the great Thomas Sankara would be smiling down from it now.

That Tunisian cunt of Ref tried every trick in the book to prevent these noble men from advancing Sid, justice is sweet tonight for the Sparrows.

(Not quite an alert) TASEā€™s team , Brisbane Roar were knocked out of the Asian Champions League qualifiers last night after a penalty shoot out, which they lost 3-0. Not even scoring 1 out of 5 penalties.

They hardly took 5 penalties if they lost the shootout 3-0

Youā€™re right of course Mullach Ide, lazy on my part. Does not take away from the amusement of seeing Brisbane having such an utterly shit season. Theyā€™re currently third from bottom in the A League, lower even than KIB Manā€™s Sydney FC.

Spurs have ten men and need to hold out for another 6 mins

I am going to put my neck on the line and go for Basel as I rate their keeper Sommer very highly and was quite surprised no half decent side made a move for him last summer after his fine form in the Champions League last year
