Dennis Law…an absolute gentleman
I met him once. Was instructed to pick up match tickets off a lad who, it transpired, was Dennis Law.
I don’t know him from Adam otherwise but we had a chat and he was a gentleman.
You’re actually living the dream flatty.

There’s a few wealthy families from the slums I come from but one in particular would have a public profile, daughter married to a successful jockey. Anyhow, a lad told me he when he was new to town he became friends with one of her brothers and this family’s kids used to go around the town in their fancy car laughing at the “peasants”. He said they soon found out he wasn’t as wealthy as first thought and dropped him like a hot stone. It was an amusing tale I thought, it’s something I would encourage my kids to do too if we ever win the lotto.
@flattythehurdler are there are any eccentricities similar to the above that you or your family enjoy?

@flattythehurdler has in-laws in Arpino, a village in the mountains not too far from Rome. They have an olive grove there.
Sorry Flatty that one was just way to good to pass up.
I see you and your sister in-law have been ducking the Limerick thread…
