It was a strange interview with Champ earlier, particularly his signals to Brussels. He must be under savage pressure from whatā€™s left of the Fianna FĆ”il party faithful. With Cowen and Calleary both falling on their sword so quickly, a big Fine Gael scalp is needed to balance the books a bit. Jerry Buttimer stepping down as Deputy Leader of the Seanad doesnā€™t really cut it.
