Sylane’s epic 1-10 to 0-10 victory over Mountbellew / Moylough in the Minor C championship final. They’ll be talking about this one for a long time to come.

Beat me too it, number 5 is 12s auld fella

You wouldn’t be suggesting they fielded ineligible players, would you?

It sounded like a classic.

  1. Dublin v Kerry - not as good as the 2013 version but still dramatic and still a classic.
  2. Tyrone v Donegal - a game for real football men. If you’re serious about football, you’ll have got it. If you’re not, you won’t.
  3. Tipperary v Derry - “nice” football has its place too.

Kk v Wd x 2 ,

Tipp v Galway AI hurling semi

Ffs sid, Turone-Donegal was the Minor game version of either Mayo-Dublin game.

Either of those teams would have been eaten alive by the finalists based on the games in question.

And they both played pretty well. Tyrone were a joke first half, Donegal 2nd.

As I said mate, Tyrone v Donegal was a serious football game for serious football people.

If it was a film it would be “Klute”. If it was an album it would be “Whiskey for the Holy Ghost” by Mark Lanegan.

Dark, deep, and brilliant.

Have you just likened one of my desert island discs to an Ulster foozeball match?

Yes, apparently.

If Dublin v Kerry this year was an album it would be What’s the Story (Morning Glory) by Oasis. A classic feel to it, without quite having the start to finish turbo-charged adrenaline-fuelled rush of its predecessor.

If it was a film it would be The French Connection II. The hero looked down and out but ends up killing his nemesis after a thrilling final chase. Again, not quite as good as the original but still tremendous stuff altogether.

If Tipperary v Derry was an album it would be Like A Virgin by Madonna. A thoroughly enjoyable, energetic, but ultimately harmless romp.

If it was a film it would be Mary Poppins. Great for the kids, heartwarming, had that wholesome feelgood factor, but again, harmless fluff and not to be taken seriously.
