Pointless and boring is Messi great or not debate

That’s the subjective spin of a Messi fanboy.

What is objective is that Argentina have failed to win in their last three crunch games, Messi has played every minute and they have scored one goal (an OG).

You judge Messi by very low standards.

What’s subjective about it?

You judge him by impossible high standards where you apparently bizarrely blame him for games where he sets up 5 clear chances for teammates

What’s subjective about it is that you blame others for not scoring chances but you don’t blame Messi - I saw he hit the post when he had an open goal in the game against Peru? Would you not expect the guy who is meant to be the best in the world to score that?

I also don’t see where these 5 clear cut chances Messi created came from. Can you pinpoint them here in the highlight video.

The Peru number 6 clearly got the final touch on that open goal mate

For some reason a free header for Benedetto just before half time isn’t shown there. Also a good chance in the second where Messi beats a few men down the left and gets a good cross in isn’t shown either. @Sidney will confirm these were clear chances. Benedetto in the 46th minute. Benedetto in the 53rd minute. A chance for Gomez in the 57th minute and another one for Benedetto in the 68th minute. Sorry mate that’s actually 6 clear chances created by Messi in the game. I apologise

Why did he hit in a way that a defender can prevent the ball from going in the net?

I think for some reason, you are telling fibs and trying to imbelish reality in order to further your Messi spin - he’s not a great. He has consistently failed his country in spite of preferential treatment. Guys like Dybala, Higuian, Icardi, Aguero etc can righly look with resentment to Messi on how he has stifled their international careers and they can do it with good reason given the way Messi has failed.

The ball hadn’t even left his foot before the defender got the touch. How could he have prevented the defender kicking the ball?

I haven’t told any fibs.

No they can’t. Messi performs way better than all of those players for Argentina

Taken a touch and brought it around the defender.

How many shots had Messi at goal?

Odd that you are blaming other players for missing chances but not Messi.

So you keep saying but the reality of the matter says these guys are chopped and change after an ineffective performance whereas Messi continues to play in his preferred position despite all his ineffective performances.

Let’s just face it, if Messi played like Gary Doherty, you’d be on here saying he was the best player on the pitch.

I’m not really sure what you’re looking at mate. The ball hadn’t left his foot before the Peruvian kicked it. Taking a touch would have resulted in the exact same thing. Messi missed no easy chances. Are you blaming him for the one where he beat a few men and kicked it just wide from well outside the box?

Oh great, Nembo has found someone else to have an endless pointless back and forth with

When’s the last time you watched Argentina play mate?

You seem to be blaming others for not scoring but it seems perfectly ok for Messi to miss chances, I just wonder what other sort of contradictions you are going to use in order to excuse Messi for being ineffective.

What about where he hit the wall near the end with a free?

Are you really equating missing chances from outside the box and free kicks with missing chances from 8 or so yards out? Strange

Have you already forgotten that Messi missed an open goal from about 10 yards out?

If it’s good for the goose it’s good for the gander.

You’ve already admitted that didn’t happen mate. At least be consistent about it

I’ve admitted no such thing.

You’re the one who seems to be denying Messi hit the post from 10 yards out with the keeper out of play?

The Peru number 6 clearly got the touch on the ball to make it hit the post. You’re a Holocaust denier mate

This is Messi great or not debate is pointless and boring. Fuck off somewhere else with it the two of ye.

Nothing clear about it.

It’s clear Messi hit the post from 10 yards out. The 5 clear cut chances you claimed don’t seem to exist, you have little comment about the fluffed free, the numerous wasted dinked balls he played into the box that ran out of play and numerous times he failed to hit the target with his shots in that short video. Instead you focus on a couple of misses from team mates.

I don’t think you are at all objective. I’ve had a well researched and articulated view on Messi’s failure in an Argentina for years now, the facts back me up. He’s meant to be the best player in the world and he should be viewed under that lense, when his peformances in the Argentine shirt are viewed under that lens, he is miles off.

You look at what Sanchez, Neymar, Suarez, James do for their country and it’s a level above what Messi does with Argentina. Not a great and you can’t manipulate the facts to prove that.
