Popular or critically acclaimed bands/artists that you hate

Pulp
Never got the whole aura of brilliance surrounding Pulp. I always found their music bland or uninspiring, and the reverence that they’re held in by thirtysomething middle class shitehawks is ridiculous. Music for rugby folk who want to feel smart and cultured. Jarvis Crocker is also a complete tosser.

Two Door Cinema Club
Over-hyped Nordie bastards who couldn’t write a lyric to save their lives. Shitty indie disco music that’s barely a step above pop punk in terms of repetition and banality.

Radiohead
This one might stir a few pots. Undoubtedly very, very talented and have produced some incredible albums, but the holier-than-thou, self-righteous and preachy attitude they exude makes me want to vomit. Yorke is a grade A cunt, and I will never warm to them no matter what they release.

Coldplay

Snow Patrol

Nathan Carter

Damien Hirst
Tracey Emin

+1, music for simpletons and muldoons

add artic monkeys to the above and lock the thread

U2 is the obvious one. Awful.

I agree on U2 to a certain degree, a few of their older songs are brilliant, but they have been rubbish for a long time.

Is @Boxtyeater critically acclaimed?

The title is a bit unnecessarily forceful.

The Beatles for me. I don’t hate them but I have no interest in them.

Agreed on the Beatles.

And agreed on the selection of Radiohead by @Blake but don’t agree they have incredible albums. I find their music very annoying.

The Bends is one of the best albums of the 90’s-that’s a fact. What do we mean by critically acclaimed though? Are Coldplay and Snow Patrol not universally recognised as being shit? U2 are gone to shite and Bono is a cunt but some of their earlier albums are brilliant.

Coldplay have 7 Grammys and 8 Brit awards, I assume that would make them critically acclaimed*. *Not by me.

Yeah but would the likes of Beyonce and Rihanna not have a shed load of Brits and Grammys as well, buddy? Maybe we should elect a TFK critic, get him to acclaim an album or an artist and then we will abuse him from a height.

Let’s go @Bandage.

I think we should be talking about artists that are critically acclaimed by hipsters and the likes.

I believe that would make Beyonce and Rihanna also critically acclaimed* mate. *Not by me. Good idea on the other thing.

A Grammy or a Brit certainly does not constitute ‘critically acclaimed’.

@Raymond Crotty holds a similar view I believe. I’d like to get his take on this.

Uh oh, music snob alert…
