Post Ewan McKenna

The micko of the forum. (Mick leech that is)

Things I learned today/Trivia question:

Mick Leech scored two international goals. Both of them were at the same venue. Which venue was it? The city will be enough.

Don’t look up Wikipedia because it makes it obvious.

Things I did not learn today: When Mick Leech was in his pomp, there was a Mick Leach who was in his pomp for QPR. He was a central defender who starred for them when they very narrowly missed out on winning the league to Liverpool in 1976. He scored when QPR beat Liverpool during that season. I learned this some years ago when I was watching Match Of The 70s 1975-76 (hosted by Dennis Waterman) on the YouTubes. John Motson shouted out “Leach” and I immediately thought “is that Mick Leech?” because I knew the name Mick Leech. Then Motson shouted “Mick Leach” and I thought “that’s the Shamrock Rovers fella isn’t it? Or is it?” It wasn’t.

Apropoh of nothing, Loftus Road was and still is an incredible football ground.

Here is the current Wikipedia entry for Loftus Road Stadium which is written entirely in Ulster Scots.

I’m liking this new Ewan

Ah thats deadly

Amazingly Ewan is going Catherine Connolly, even though she shares his stance in backing Russia, the Palestinians and claiming to be left wing.
She’s also a faux-pacifist like he claims to be.

How is his health these days

He’s making some cunt out of himself again.

How?

He’s retiring from x

We’re back - standing, and, more importantly, podcasting

Hi all, just a note to say thanks for all your huge patience and support over what hasn’t been a fun few months. I’ll chalk it down as character building as I await what, hopefully, will be an all-clear in the next few days and then just the five years of regular monitoring.

Anyway, enough about me, for Think For Yourself will be back next week, and regularly thereafter. And, fear not, for if recent events have taught me anything, it’s to have an even lower tolerance for bullshit - rather than some hippy-dippy attitude - because life is short.

I’ll be putting out the last two episodes of the Cost of Immigration series (it hasn’t gone away you know) as a warm-up and to slowly ease my vocal cords back into it. They are with MEP Michael McNamara on the attitude at home and in Brussels, and with Irish Times journalist Kitty Holland who asked I not air it having sat down to do it, but more on that in the show.

Thereafter, it’ll be a more regular format with some new features, including the usual wraps and comment on politics and social affairs, a whole host of interesting interviews from all corners and all facets of life, and I’m working on incorporating some more sporting shows (which won’t be for everyone but it won’t eat into the rest regardless).

Lastly, I’ve paused payment for February too, as a thanks for sticking around and sticking by me, and really looking forward to getting back in the saddle as a whole lot has gone down.

We have much catching up to do so buckle up, and many kind regards,

I was hoping after what he’s gone through he’d come back different.

Anybody give his new podcast a whirl?

I’ve seen some lads particularly on here gone down rabbit holes in the last ten years or so but Jesus Christ this is sad stuff.

I used to follow his info graphics in the Sunday tribune when I was very young. Seemed a nice sort at the beginning.

You’d wonder how he ended up like this.

The Dubs broke him and he unravelled from there. He won’t be the first and he won’t be the last.

He’ll do well to get super value to sponsor his podcast anyway when they hear the take off your belt and remove your shoelaces before you listen to this section. He then starts reading letters to the editor from the Irish times.

Walking Glancing GIF

Sounds like someone was arrested recently…

He was ill but he’s doing better now I think.

Ewan has gone to war with Declan Ganley

What was the contentious post?

Gript is paid for by Israel.

He’s going off on Ian o Doherty now.

It’s tremendous viewing watching all these cunts tear each other apart.
