Yes, far bigger. First of all because there isnāt less snow in the Sierras, the average for the past few centuries is 400 inches a year, it was over 500 in 2018 and less than 200 this year, it varies tremendously from season to season. Every time thereās a low year like 2014/2015 thereās lots of panic, and then we get massive snow the next year. Even with increasing temperatures, over the last century and a half thereās no reduction in snowfall in the Sierras, there is in other western US states. The models predict a massive reduction in the coming century, but those are models.
Secondly, the melting snowpack is mostly diverted to fill reservoirs, and very little of it gets to the areas that are currently burning. Most of the Sierra snowpack ends up in southern Cali, which is basically a desert. In 2019, the snowpack was at 161% of the historical average, the fourth best reading in 40 years. Lack of water is an issue during droughts obviously, but far too many humans and where they choose to live is the far bigger issue.
If youāre going to debate with me, I suggest you get a few more facts on your side and a little less soundbites from Greta.
Youāve lost the plot.

Were you here during the halycon days of Kev? He WAS the internet.
I donāt know if I was here for the actual halcyon days but I often start the day by reciting some of his many memorable postsā¦there were some absolute belters.
Iām still humbled that he plagarised my McNulty post.
Kev is still on the internet.
Ah I know that and take a peek the odd time but itās not the same, all calm and measured now. Heās dropped his signature lineā¦ You just donāt get it fellaā¦
