Liverpool had a chance to go 10 points clear at the start of January but lost at Manchester City. They were given a reprieve, if that’s the right term, when City lost at Newcastle a week or two later, but Liverpool had a series of draws around then. They’ll look back on the points dropped at home to Leicester and away to West Hame with regret. Klopp also went a bit conservative at Everton and Manchester United iirc.

City got much more points against top six teams.
I was living in Tooting in London during euro 2000. Portugal came back from 2 nìl down to England to win 3-2. Figo and pinto scored fucking crackers. Myself and another Irish lad went into one or two boozers to try and have a pint and the mood was fucking murderous. You could feel the seeth and danger. We fucked off home and celebrated with a load of cans, some skunk and later on a value box from Morleys take away. Never underestimate the danger of angry pissed up football mobs.
