Premier League 2022/23

Haaland will be having nightmares about big Joe Worral for months

It’lil be Yealland‘esque

Touch of the Carsten Jancker about that.

City and Haaland wish he’ll be a champions league winner like Jancker

That was a tough one for Chelsea today. It was inevitable Southampton would get a new manager/no manger bounce. Chelsea badly in need of a few handy fixtures. Next up a trip to White Hart Lane to face Spurs next week.

After 24 games of last season Manchester City had 60 points and a goal difference of +57 -14 (+43).

After 24 games of this season Manchester City have 52 points and a goal difference of +60 -24 (+36).

After 21 games of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season Borussia Dortmund stood on 43 points, nine points behind Bayern Munich.

Borussia Dortmund have their 21st game of the 2022/23 season tomorrow, at home to lowly Hertha Berlin, and a win will put them on 43 points, the exact same as last season, but the crucial difference is it will also put them level with Bayern Munich on 43 points at the top of the table.

Dortmund failed to qualify from last season’s Champions League group and were knocked out of the Europa League by Rangers.

This season they safely qualified from a harder group than last season’s and look well set up to reach the quarter-finals, going into the second leg 1-0 up on Chelsea.

There’s a serious touch of late career Cristiano Ronaldo about this Haaland chap. It seems he makes teams worse. Even then, at least late career Ronaldo was a good man to dig out a late winner or equaliser. Haaland isn’t.

Liverpool will destroy Real Madrid on Tuesday

It looks as if things are not going to work out for Coach Potter at Chelsea.

Marco Silva and Fulham are closing in on the Champions League places while Chelsea’s other near neighbours Brentford are having a fine season under Thomas Frank.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Chelsea move for one of these two in the near future, and for it to be a disaster.

It seems like this Yank hasn’t a clue what he’s doing.

I fairly called this one.

Astute judges of soccer like @BruidheanChaorthainn and @Tassotti had the card marked of this Haaland fellow as a fraud from Day 1.

Two teams who are European royalty. It’s what the champions league is all about.

Just three goals in the last six games for the Saudis.

If they can’t score against this Liverpool defence, even with ten men, they may throw their collective towels at it. Letting Chris Wood go is beginning to look like the most costly mistake for the Saudis since they invaded Yemen.

You can see the likely managerial changes unfolding in the distance.

Conte will be with the Saudis next season.
Poch will return to the Lane.
Silva will make the one stop hop up the District Line to Stamford Bridge.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Carlo Ancelotti pitch up at Fulham or West Ham should he get the heave ho in Madrid.

That bluffer Nagelsmann will likely go to PSG.

Unsurprising as the Saudis are looking a bit thin up top and their Champions League hopes are receding.

Champions League winning manager Rafa the Gaffa is looking well.

Just catching up on the events of the day. Presumably Lego Man Arteta after his tantrum last week didn’t have anything to say about the offside winning goal in the 93rd minute Woolwich benefited from today.
