From memory that Unite guy is anything but lightweight. He destroyed Eamon Ryan on primetime a couple of weeks back.
Garrett hadn’t put his false teeth in ffs. He’s like the whistling gypsy rover.

I used to think this Peter Matthews guy was a complete simpleton but he seems to have been right all along. Go figure.

Did you notice the light flickering off his shirt? It’s like he’s a hologram.

Hope Sid Waddell is alright. He was taking this recession thing fairly seriously
The bail out is big news over here and on BBC World and the like. A lot of stories I’m seeing relate to Ireland giving up its hard won sovereignty - is that the general feeling at home, that our soverreignty is gone? Or is everyone just glad that the ciuntry has been bailed out?
Great to see our warm hearted neighbours queuing up to make out like bandits by borrowing from the markets at 3% and lending to us at 5%
A bit of both Fitzy.
There’s general resentment that it has come to this and outrage at the fact that we’ve outsourced our government to a coalition of richer nations. But there’s also a reisgned sort of acceptance that the government are making an awful fucking mess of things anyway so it may be no bad thing.
The big contentious issue is the lying and misinformation for me anyway. And we still don’t know what conditions are coming with this money. Lenihan on Morning Ireland this morning had to concede that the 4 year plan would be subject to IMF approval and that they may only approve the first year of it. Same with the Croke Park agreement. And the European Central Bank press release yesterday made it very clear that the loans were given with policy conditions attached.
Whatever goodwill there is towards the IMF/ECB I can’t see it lasting when they start imposing their will. And when we realise they’re not here for anything positive other than lending us money. It’s like inviting a bank manager into your gaff to decide on everything you spend when you fall behind on your mortgage. Might be tolerable for a month, after that you’ll just be cursing them.
