  1. So it seems, loads of profit to be had in this private waste collection game?
    Panda Waste owner acquires stake in north Dublin shopping centre
    Businessman Eamon Watters, owner of Panda Waste, one of Ireland’s largest waste collection and recycling companies, has acquired a substantial stake in Charlestown Shopping Centre at junction five of the M50 in north Dublin. The acquisition was made through an investment vehicle called Garristown Venture Holdings.

The large-scale shopping centre and an adjoining site with planning permission for 247 apartments and further retail space have been sold for slightly over €42 million, well ahead of the €35.5 million quoted by selling agents Bannon and Savills.
I seem to remember last year these private waste collection companies moaning about not making enough money out of recycling and the like … net result was possible further charges to all of us? Remember this the next time they come back moaning again?

Also goes to show if local authorites could run such utilities like waste collection in a professional manner at a reasonable charge … thats funds going to these local authorities invested back into our communities instead of being piled into a share in a shopping centre?

Private waste collection is very inefficient. There are rubbish bins out in our estate nearly every day of the week between the different providers and they all haul them off to different places then.

A few of the big private waste companies are just fronts for criminal activity and money laundering. I’d assumed this was a widely known fact.

I know of one company in Limerick that takes all the rubbish to Carlow.

Public services like household waste collection are a de facto monopoly. When corrupt politicians hand these monopolies over to their cronies, of course those cronies become fantastically rich. Panda’s business model is to hire cheap migrant labour to do work that used to support thousands of Native Irish households. Is it any wonder we’re suffering demographic collapse?
